mad_cats: thanks for the info i thought the composite ones will fit because they look almost exactly the same, even the lengths. might as well go for the losi aluminum ones.

The only differance I can plain see between the two is the ball Dia. that fits into the Diff.

Anyone use a Kimbrough Spur Gear to check ride height? It is exactly 5mm. Just reading R/C car with Kinwalds stock asphalt setup.10mm droop sounded a little extreme. Does anyone else run this much? I'm set at 3/5 and 0 kickup

MDM3-The 10mm droop is measured from the bottom of the chassis to the bottom of the tire. The article says he measures with the tires on the car.

springs
anybody using the associated springs on the xxx? i was telling a newbie at the track about how cool ae was for selling a kit with all their springs in it, someone else stated the ae springs would work on the new xxx-s.

Just checking. Does the new chassic make any differents. It is very Expensive man. Thinking of buying one.

The Chassis by itself is an ounce lighter. The whole conversion kit... I dunno how much lighter it is. But Graphite is more rigid then plastic, so you're parts are stronger and you definitely have less flex.

I run asc springs on my XXX-S. I used the lower spring cups off a TC3 and everything fits nice. I dont remember for sure but I might have run my hobby knife around the top of the spring to scrape off the excess paint so they fit Losi threaded collars. I know I had to do that with one car I ran asc springs on.

Hype:
ASC and the Yok springs will fit the XXX-S threaded shocks - no problemo, no scraping.

Droop and Preload questions
I've been working on gettting the ride height and droop set properly on my XXX-S and I had a few questions. I have the droop set at 3 in the front and 5 in the rear. I'm also running 4mm ride height front and rear. I have the short threaded shocks in front and the standard length threaded shocks in the rear and I'm running uncut proline foam tires. I'm also running the 1.0" springs front and rear.
The problem is that I had to run very little spring preload to get the proper ride height. Now when I pick the car up, the shocks do not extend fully to the droop screws. When I extend the suspension fully to the max droop, the spring is not under any preload. There is actually about a 1/8" gap from the top of the spring to the adjuster nut on the shocks. It seems that since the springs can not extend far enough to ever make contact with the droop scres, that the droop setting is meaningless.
If anyone could tell me if this is normal or what I need to do to correct it, it would be appreciated. I am assuming you would still want some amount of spring preload at full droop.
Thanks,
Rob

One more question also. Do you need different front carriers to get 4 degrees of caster or are the stock carriers the 4 degree ones? If they aren't, what's the part number for the 4 degree carriers?
Thanks again,
Rob
