I don't think those are the stiffners, they look like posts that will prevent rear body tucks.

The body stiffners are usually made of metal and mount on the existing body posts.

What size shims do I need to put behind the out drive cups on the spool?Excessive play...

That play is there for a reason. It makes the front end actually chatter less under load. It allows the driveshaft parts to float a bit as they need to so it doesn't transfer all throughout the car. It actually results in a smoother driving car.

Or... are you talking about the side to side play of the whole spool assembly? If that is the case, I think it's a 10mm shim.

As was said above. The posts help prevent those forward progress impeding body tucks that can occur from a nicely executed peel job or the more basic rear-ender.

So how would the new chassis perform on carpet with rubber tires? Is it stiffer than the stock chassis? Or is it just a "different" feel?

I shimmed out the side to side play, but where the out drives are pinned to the spool there is some play there as well. The out drive cups are wobbley or is that supposed to be there like you stated?

I'm actually running a TC-FD but the TCX parts carry over.
