Mine got no issue. I even had to increase the tightness to prevent skipping.

I'm not sure I'd use anything thicker than 1k hence i think 800 is the other option I would use although I will probably get dot 4 just to try it out and see what it does. Do you know if yokomo do dot 1,2 and 3 and what the rating of these are?

I know a bunch of people have complained about slop in the steering system. I played with mine yesterday and was able to completely eliminate it with 4 small shims.
The first shim is a 4mm .02 thick on the steering post itself. It eliminates the up and down slop.
The other shims are a 3/16th shim I think. Very thin. If you look at the alum piece that connects the two bellcranks, there is a small lip that goes towards the bearing side. This shim fits around the lip and when bolted on, eliminates the slop there.
I will take some pictures today and post tonight.

Bubblehead: (spur/pinion)* internal ratio= FDR.. so just do the calculations and you'll be there. I believe the IR is 1.95 for the tcx. Sorry i run 40 tooth pullies so my IR is different.

RCGT is a 17.5 blinky class. So a 9.5 would make it run slower than a stock mini cooper. I guess you thought he was asking for gearing for a 3.5 motor. RCGT at floyd would be miserable with that straight away.
