EVO 4 hinge Pin Blocks v.s. 415 Blocks
I noticed today that the height of the hinge pin blocks for the evo 4 are like the evo 3 in that they are 1mm higher than the blocks used on the 415. I did not know this and was interchanging the blocks between the evo 4 and the 415 at will. I was running anti-squat and negative kickup without knowing it.
anyway...just thought I would mention this just in case someone else made the same mistake I did :) :) cya Martin Crisp |
I think for carpet, it's best to switch to all 415 blocks as they are lower. You'll get the better roll center needed. I'm just waiting for someone to come out with a 3mm chassis!!

Martin >> Which car are you going to run on carpet this winter? If its the 415, which suspension do you plan to run on it?

Well, I didn't race the Evo IV in TCS Australia due to lack of parts and time but another RCTech Regular did. Paul Smith AKA Black-Knight ran the Evo 4 and I think he was the only one there that did and guess what??? He took out the title!!!!
It was a great piece of driving from both him and his 415-driven competitor in Luke Swinkles. Good to see an Evo IV taking titles already!!!!! Now he's off to Japan with it!!!! |
does any1 have a link to squats site and wots the average price for a set of those bearings

which car
Hi Richo
I will race both cars this winter on carpet. I am very curious to try the evo4 with foam tires and a diff in the front. In cleveland I will likely race the EVO4 in stock and the 415 in mod....but I will need to do some testing first. cya, M |
EVO4 due to the fact that its shaft driven or is there some other variables? Do you think there is any downside to running the 415 in stock/19T (I am considering it at Snowbirds)?
It certainly would be nice to have a factory front diff for the 415 :-) Is there a lot of 415/EVO competitors up in the hinterland? ex-Calgarian, -Rich |
415 v.s evo4
Hi Richo,
Certainly the shaft drive will help a little for stock and 19 turn. But in my testing the lap times are about the same so far...give or take a tenth. Yeah, the majority of the cars driven at my local track are Tamiya..:). The 415 is the most common one. Martin |
