If Surikarn doesn't use the EVO 4, he's nuts!
My son, the driver, has only been racing for just a year. He won the club stock F2 championchip with a Surikarn Evo 3, averaging 13 laps indoors and at most 14. First outing with Evo 4, set up 2 deg toe f/r and -1 deg camber all round. Squat stub axle bearings to get rid of the horrid Tam ones. First qualifier, 14 laps, second 15, third qual and final 16, getting quicker all the time. Gone from middle of C final (best pole) and about 15 on the FTQ list with the Evo 3 to middle of B final with the Evo 4. 9th place in FTQ list and 3rd in the B final. According to timng system, if laptimes in 5 of the 3rd heat laps had been maintained, it would have been A final, not B. The car gets my vote! |

I was out last weekend racing the Evo4 in a parking lot. During practice I broke my rear arms twice hitting the PVC pipe (same hit, same spot). This is rather unusual for it has never happend before with the old arms on Evo3. With the old suspension, instead of the arm, the alumnium suspension holder would bend instead.

good point! i was cleaning the 415 in prep for TCS this weekend... found a bent rear hingepin and front toe block. probably from same hit that broke the upper aluminum turnbuckle! running 8x2 Vantage, clipped a dot and into the outside barrier...
i have never broken a rear arm... one front, a long time ago, on a steel post indoors. the new arms dont look as beefy as the old ones, but i would rather stock up on a few arms than toe blocks!. |
kumpol! How ya doin! I only ran the 415 with Evo IV suspension when I was down there at TFB. I had to put my IV suspension back onto my Evo IV so I could run it again. So the old suspension is back on the 415. I don't really have anything to compare the new suspension to yet. But I did order some more parts from R10 so that I can put the IV suspension back on the 415. Should be in this week. So we'll see in the next week or so. I just don't like the tiny bearings. I'll see how the Squat ones are since they are on the way as well. Anyways.. I may or maynot be down next month for that race yall are holding. Just depends if I can get some time off work. I'll bring the Evo IV and my trusty Yokomo SD. Maybe I'll catch ya soon!
Thanks Dave, I'll have to try them out. I'd like to use IRS dogbones if they fit with that setup. The Evo III bearings sucked... :p The 414M2 ones were pretty good though. |
Well I was told by someone in the industry that Surikarn WILL NOT use the TB EVO IV at the worlds due to the fact that he prefers belt driven cars and does not like the "snap" of shaft cars:rolleyes:
there goes my hope of an Evo IV Surikarn Edition:cry: |
good i am glad to hear that why would he run the evoIV whith all the track time he has with the 415 wouldnt make since he is to fast with the 415 .

Originally posted by V12 I think nobody likes this bearing size. Square should make some EVO IV uprights for the large bearings. BTW what kind of Squat bearings did you order from R10? Gold? I have heard of some people trying it out.. but for myself I have just swiched to the Pro4 hubs in the rear and the Pro4 knuckle up front:nod: -Dave:D |

-Dave:D [/B][/QUOTE] Do the Pro4 ones fit without any mods? and what size bearings and shafts do they use (old EVOIII shafts etc) Alan |
Hi Mark
Yes saw it already. Someone posted a link to your review. Itīs great. When will be the next part out? After your marathon I think. You really bought the Acer ceramic now for the 415? What do you think and how went it with ordering/shipping? |
