My wallet is already hurting and it's only April!!  If Xray releases their shaft drive this year, then my wallet will really have a stroke.:D :D

Does Xray plan to release a shaft drive car?

No... might be a little rusty but I think it was JPY 37,800 for the EvoIII #58299 and JPY 54,800 for the EvoIII-SL.

Maybe this time they will use graphite gear box instead of that cheap plasitcs. And they should improve their molding skill because the end user has to sand and put tape to fix the problems that they have in EVO 3.

I didn't have to sand or put tape on my car.

I don't know how has better molding skills than Tamiya. Have you ever built their scale models?

How smooth is your EVO 3 drivetrain? Everyone is chasing the ultra smooth drivetrain for their shaft car.

Every EVO 3 drivers in my area have to sand and tape the gearbox to tried to fix the pinching of the bearings and also tape up bearings, fix on to the angle gear(sorry not not knowing the proper name), of the slop from moving up and down.

If you look at RC World in Japan this month, they talk about the TB-02 which share the same gearbox as EVO 3 or EVO 3 SL. Look at that gearbox will give you a good indication of how accurate and quality control of that plastic mold.

Tamiya team driver use graphite gear box for their EVO 3 not the one that LHS are selling to us. Graphite Gearbox is not for sales to the public, only team drivers can use it. All shaft car have one common problem, pinching of the bearings.

Maybe EVO4 they will give you graphite gearbox instead, let's hope so!!!!

My drivetrain is smooth, thank you. I run my car at SoCal and there are a few EVO3s there but I don't know anyone who sand or tape their gearboxes.

2 cars released in 6 months? What happened to Tamiya?

I prefer to wait TRF 4150... I heard the rumour that it has digital camera built in and also has GPRS & MMS features... What a dream car !!!

I sanded the gear boxes on my TC3 to releive pressure on the bearings and it helped the drive train, but I am completely unfamilar with using Tape on it... Whats that about.. Where do you use the tape and why?

I don't know, never heard of it myself before GFXmania's post.
