EVO4 Report
Folks, the Evo4 was released today here in Taiwan. I went through the box and instructions and was a little disappointed and somewhat relieved.
Disappointed because: 1. All the screws are steel and not titanium 2. The turnbuckles are the cheap black steel ones and not titanium (as Evo3 SL) nor alumnium (as TRF415). 3. The ball ends are all steel too, not alumnium nor titanium. Relieved because: 1. The car seems quite different from Evo3. I do feel this to be a new design and not just an updated version. 2. The chassis is 3mm. For a while I thought it would be 2.5mm since that was the case for the original Evo3. 3. The gears are made with fiber reinforced plastic and seem to be fairly sturdy. It better be as I am sure it would be hard to get spares for a while. 4. The suspension blocks are the same as the Evo3 which means I have spares. 5. The new rear upright is 1 degree and not 2 degrees like the Evo3 and 415. |
Re: new retro susp. kit
Originally posted by tomdav Does anyone know whats in this kit? I would hope new cvd's, bearings, arms, knuckles, and hubs would be included. How about some titanium turnbuckles. I'm looking to get this for a TB-02. Is anyone taking preorders for the E4 besides Rainbowten. $460.00 is a little steep. This is interesting. Hong Kong and Taiwan seem to have them already. Japan for some reason is delayed. Japan is usually first. Can anyone confirm?

Originally posted by jeffreylin I too am surprised that Taiwan and HK got them first. Regardless, I am looking forward to getting mine and see how it works. |

"Chuan Tian" ..."river-field"... I was in taipei a few months ago for vacations, bought tons of Sorex there, at this time the owner told me not to buy the 415 because he was too expensive for this kit:D he was pretty cool!!!

Interesting Observation
Just poring thru TBe4 manual... something interesting.
New spareparts! (suitable for EvoIII?) 51109 TBe4 ONE WAY GEAR SET gives 2x Oneway Ring Gear, 2x Bevel Pinion gear 51110 TBe4 BALL DIFF GEAR SET gives 2x ball diff Ring Gear, 2x Bevel Pinion gear Lotsa spare bevel pinions...? Chassis is new, mounting points for new gearbox is different so these parts cannot be retrofitted to TBe3. :( 51090 TBe4 950 Ball Bearing 4pcs |
