R/C Tech Forums - Tamiya TB-Evolution IV

Hey I was wondering if I could get some advise from you Tamiya guys ?
I'm running Tamiya shocks on my xxx-s, I'm using the gold ball studs that the shocks mount to, but the threads are a little short. a guy at my local track ''SRS'' gave me one that had long threads on it, but he didn't know the part #.

I went to the Tamiya web site and I could not find any thing. I tried a few local Hobby shops that sell Tamiya parts, no one seems to know what car uses that ball stud or that part #.

I see lundsford sells alot of different size ball studs but I don't know what size it is.

If any of you guys could help me with this I would really appreciate it.

Also I was wondering If any of You guys would know how many different size pistons, Tamiya makes for there shocks, and what would be the closest equivalent to losi pistons?

Do any other brand of pistons fit the Tamiya shocks?

I figured out that the Associated springs fit the Tamiya shocks.

Any and all help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Go and ask Todd Hodge over at his thread. While back he posted Tamiya 2/3 hole piston to Losi equivalnt (when he ran Tamiya shocks on his XXX-S/Proto JRX-S) Also, I'm guessing he'll have the part # that will be correct for ball stud to get it to work on the Losi.

IIRC, the XXX-S has #56 and #54 pistons. These numbers correspond with an American Wire Gauge drill bit size. Go down to your local hardware stoe that has wire sized bits and try fitting the back side of the bit in the piston hole. As long as you have the right size and number of holes, the dampening should be the same with a given oil.

Does anyone know a store that I can find the flange tubes that go into the bottom of the caster blocks? My LHS hasn't had much luck getting things in from Tamiya and Speedtech is out. Please help!

if you are talking about mounting TRF shocks to the shock tower, these are probably the easiest way:

that way, you can use as long a 3mm screw as you need... and at the bottom, i have seen a long grub screw used in the arm, with these nuts on it, kinda like an Xray lower.

No that is not what he is talking about. He is looking for the flange tubes that space the kingpin screw in the c-hub where it screws into the knuckle.

I found some other Tamiya ones in a pinch but they were a little longer. A few minutes with my Dremel and burning my fingers, they were the same length as the stock Evo ones. I do not recall what kit they came from becuase somebody handed them to me at SoCal but they look just like the originals with the exception of the length.

P.S. the next time they become available, buy a few. They are popular and sell out fast. Try http://www.victorracng.com and see if Victor has any. He has been able to get some other Tamiya stuff for me quickly that others could never get. Tell him I sent ya.

sorry... i should have quoted the above. i was replying to the above post looking for the hardware to mount the TRF shocks on another chassis....

i do know what the flange tubes are... somewhere i have a whole bag full of 'em! :) ;)

Hey fellow EVO IV owners, was wondering if anyone can tell me what part tree(s) do I need to get a complete battery hold-down assembly. I'm missing the battery strap posts and the hold down strap itself. I don't have a manual so if someone can tell me it'd be great. Thanks.

well, looks like to get that, you need 2....

51102 B-tree has the strap, body posts, and front bumper....

50989 J tree has the end mounts, antenna holder...etc.

you might still need someting else, tho... the little steel posts that screw into the mounts...which are in screw bag B #9465635, or by themselves is #9805886.

i used a tube from the servo kits works alright when your desperate.
