where did u add shims on urs? what do u recommend?

crimson eagle 03-20-2005 10:10 AM

I put mine above the a-arm but I do trim the plastic part which captures the ball so it can sit right down onto the steering block. If you look closely, it is possible for it to rub on the inside.

Chris.

why not put shims under the balls? that will give clearance between the steering block and the arms. i also noticed on my l3 that the instruction says add one shim under the upper ball

crimson eagle 03-20-2005 10:15 AM

Dakrat,

yes that would solve the problem too but it would mean that you would get more camber going around the corners and your castor would be slightly different. now if you ask me if I could tell the difference I'd say probably not.

Chris.

Hi all
I was cleanning the 12L4, and doing a major overhaul and discovered a crack on the bottom layer of the chassis, right where the aft left side of the T-plate is.
I know I can still race the car for maybe a couple a races since is only one layer of the carbon fiber, but I think is better to change the chassis. What do you guys recommend, to buy a normal 12L4 or to upgrad to a different chassis, if so which one?
Thanks
Jorge

There's a thread on the Electric On Road forum where you can find some pictures of the BMI car.

Take a look at the PRC Quad 12 at www.powellracingcomponents.com
It's a great car!

BMI 1/12 CONVERSION

JLMG1971...
The BMI conversion is not on the BMI website as you found out. You can call BMI directly and ask about the availability. There are some pics on the BMI 1/12 conversion thread if you want to see them.
