Hi Bill,

4th place, good job dude you qualified a bit further back as I recall.

Bill great job. Were there lots of entries? Was the track very technical or free flowing?

anybody know how thick the bmi chassis is for the 12l4?

crimson eagle 03-14-2005 02:25 PM

Hi Rev,

The track was pretty good, I prefered the layout from the previous week but that's ok. I would of been happier with mor slow to mid speed turns as that was where my car was handling the best, still it was a good meeting. Props to Jim Rose he did it when it counted.

Chris.

Anyone know where I can get an alum. damper post (4542) for the 12L4?

Thanks in advance!

what would it take to convert a L3 to a L4, or would it be more cost effective to just buy the L4

It would be more cost effective to get a BMI conversion or just get a new L4 kit.

To convert the L3 to the L4 you need....Chassis(35), Bottom pod Plate(10), Rear cross brace(7), NEW front end(30), and Diff if your car doesnt have a Large ring diff(45), Battery holders(2) and front chassis protectors(2). I think the BMI kits are like 130 bucks and the L4's are about 170 or so. For all the stuff to really get you L3 to L4 spec its about 130+ dollars if you want to make it a full blowen L4 that is if your car doesnt have a large diff ring diff already.

Treydog,
The BMI conversion kit is 2.5mm thick.

hi guys, more newbie questions.

For my CRC, what do you reckon would be the best spur gears to get? and what range?

I'm not sure what one the car comes with, and I've been lokoing on the CRC site and notice they have rollout charts for 96, 98, and 100 spurs, is this a good range?

Also with regards to rollout, I take it that it's all in relation to tire diameter?
So you adjust the gearing to suit the diameter of the tyres, right?

Can't wait for the car to arrive now, hell, I even broke up some of my unused batteries to make into four cell packs for it! I'm hoping it'll be here this week, before I go home for easter.

regards
Ed

revzalot,
No... the front mounts are further forward and wider... the rear mounts are slightly wider and have 2 locations to change downforce to the chassis.

Set the car up as the directions say, it's a very good starting point...

I run a 96 tooth spur gear, works fine and I can run the rear tired really small...

Yes, rollout is in relation to tire diameter....

HELP!

TryHard 03-14-2005 05:33 PM

cool, thanks for the quick reply.
ANy suggestions on what make of spur to use? I'm currently using Xenon's in my 415... are they decent for 12th? or is there another make that would be better?

Also I read earlier someone mentioning about damper tube fluid, am I best off getting the stuff off the CRC site? or using another make?

And anything else you could possibly think off I might need? like tuning springs / spares etc? I read somewhere (i think again from the CRC site) about having different springs for the front (0.18" ?!) and same for the rear tweak and shock springs (reds /whites etc?)

I'm just trying to get myself sorted for the car...don't want to be left at the track without a spare/tuning option I might need ;) (and yes I am that pedantic! :p )

Later,
Ed

Wannabee...
I never saw a production one out of aluminum.... I made some for the local guys at my track.... but never saw anybody sell one... That's why the BMI one is made with a locator pin and 2 screws to hold it in place :)
