a question that has probably been asked before. did a search but theres too many responses.
have just bought a second hand L3 in perfect condition, which i believe is in "out of the box" setup.
i intend putting a 10 single/double in it. any suggestions on suitable pinions would be appreciated.
also have got some jaco greens (front and rear) would these be suitable on bitumen, temp in the mid 20s celcius(i realise that certain tyres will suit certain tracks but am just after a general idea)
thanx in advance:D

Im guessing by your subject line that you are actually asking about the 12L3 but if you are asking about the 10L3, youd probably want to ask that here:

That is the 1/10 pan car thread. There are some real experts over there.

Hey revsalot

C12 - the front "shock" is made of black fibre glass, and so far shows no sign of needing to be replaced. I have a spare in the box just in case.

We have replaced the 4-40 screws used for front and rear body posts with slightly larger M3 screws. The fronts in particular were prone to coming undone.

Also we've adapted some tap washers (don't laugh) and foam body protectors to sit over the front body posts. These make a great secondary bumper and have made the front end bullet proof.

While I remember we got a UK company to make "solid" C12 bumpers, where the kit units have two cut outs in them.

hope that helps

Mark,

You got pix of that custom made front bumper for your c12?

The newer kits have a solid front bumper

Servo Mounting

What is the advantage to mounting the servo directly to the chassis with shoo goo or something like that?

It changes the ackerman as well as the arc the servo saver goes through relative to the steering blocks. Also there are minor changes to the CG. Somewhere on the Blackstock or Cyrul thread one of them said that the servo mounted flat on the chassis gives more steering in 180s and less in sweepers, and mounting it angled on blocks gives less steering in 180s and more in sweepers.

Plus it's easier for the drill press impaired.

im thinking about getting a 12th scale and i already have all teh electronics from a touring car. Do i need to buy a new 12th scale servo or will the one from the touring car work? Also what is yalls opinion on the 12l4.

you would have to get a new, smaller, lighter servo. I just ran the 12l4 for the first time last weekend, and won. I like the car alot, It can be adapted to any track conditions and is basically the industry standard for all cars.
