Try some R1Wurk batteries.

As for the guy with the push problem due to picking up gunk, shore rating doesn't always cut it. You may need to try a different brand of tire. Some companies have the same shore rating but also have different type of foam or rubber content. You need to find one that won't pick up the trash like BSR Black fronts. Maybe Blue/Blue. Don't try Team Purples because once you go outside the groove, you are done.

Then I tried the other way around: eliminate caster and let the fronts to "scrub" at corner exit on power, to "grind " the murble out. Nothing.
Ok. Then I sauced. Finally the fronts kept clean but then I had impossible steering. I reduced tons of EPA and steering speed and EXP. Still impossible oversteer getting into the corner. Ok then I started swearing and added caster and a stiff CRC front spring. Gained very little stability but she started to diff out at hairpins. The sensibilty of the front end was so impossible that at 50percent of epa she would turn around if forcing the entry....
Ride height was 3.5-3.8-4.0 front to back. Enneti tyres 40 f 30 r. I played a lot with other parameters but the feeling remained the same. Other xrays on track were using my same rears and eventually softer 35 front, FULL SAUCED, and kept excellent stability and easyness. Only noticeable difference was their battery, in line, vs mine transverse.
I managed 13 hours of practice before calling it over.
Do you think that just the position of the cell can justify that difference??? I don't, but I'm not an expert
Come to think of it. You are better off going back to the kit settings and starting over. It's not a bad thing, I think in your case you have adjusted way to many settings and now you are lost.

Get back to the kit settings and report back to us.

What Xray model are you using?

X12 2016... all the problems start because fronts pick up fuzz... I guess I have to change to different front tires and start from the beginning. No matter what you adjust, if the tires are sticked with gunk it's impossible to drive

I had my X12'16 out last weekend and my buddy couldn't believe how much steering it had. I think the suggestion to go back to the box setup and try some different tires is your best bet.

My friend got a wild hare and tried some crc magentas and didn't think they worked as well as the blacks he had on it before.

Green rears with blue fronts are a safe place to start with the problems you are having.. If you have a hard time finding them over there ULTI xs rear and xm fronts are the same thing.

What is everyone's thoughts on pivot ball heights? What handling characteristics will you get with a tall vs small pivot ball?

Use the right ones, or the carbon-fiber chassis can delaminate under stress.

I always had difficulty getting sufficient ride height with very small tires when using the old school suspension. Speed Merchant offers old school arms that have been machined down to fix this (as well as giving correct camber and caster angles, since the arms tend to be warped coming out of the mold).
I've just been using the kit screws. I've seen the speed merchant arms and thought about it. Issue is i was going through them so fast because i'm an utter failure as a driver that I didn't want to spend $10 each vs. $3 each.

Speedmerchant makes a aluminum brace for the old skool front end that makes it much more durable if you aren't already using them

for the 1S 7000mah+ lipos, how common is it for them to have some puffing?

I heard that in the 2S 7000mah+ sizes, with the limited space in the case it can be common to see some puffing.

Is that the case at all in 1/12 1S lipos?

this is a CRC 7000mah lipo from what I recall
