thanks Chrisgt2
- I am just looking for a little more from the car, The car is very comfortable to drive, but comfort does not always equal being fast, that is why the new front end is on now.

i went back a couple of pages and all i found was a link to the IRS web site. and on the web site all i found were the same castor blocks i have.
go to www.towerhobbies.com type irrgang in the search box and it will be on the second page-blue aluminum castor blocks for cars with the dynamic front suspension. i cant give you a link right to it, it wont work for some reason. are those the ones?

The current IRS offerings are for 1/10 oval cars. They do not have ractive caster options (as far as I know, need to send a note to IRS to find out.)

Try going to about page 135-137. Should be something there from what looks like a trade show.

i must be retarded or something, did not see it still.whatever i will look again later. BTW i am currently setting up my first 1/12 car-12l3. i have never even driven one before.i was wondering if some one could give me a starting gear ratio for a 19 turn (chameleon) i have a 75 spur 17 pinion right now, will that work? also i was wondering about ride height and what axle spacers to use. with my 10l3 i had a bad spin out problem wich only went away when i gave the car a rearward rake-wich led to an understeer and pushing problem-i mean this car had NO rear traction without a rearward rake, it did not matter what tires or suspenion set up i had. is rear bite a problem with the 12l3? i will be starting with green compound tires(jaco) and running on an indoor carpet track-its a pretty big track, but only one real straight-lots of turns, tight ones. any help to get me set up right would be appreciated, i am waiting for my electronics to arrive and trying to get a head start

see page 134 post by BACHOFNER date 9-19-2003 12:09pm

there is a photo link, look real close at the front end.

yes these parts are not out yet. IRS will have them on their site way before Tower even thinks about carrying them.

i talked to Dave at IRS when i got my Rugrat Conv kit. he mentioned, that he would be coming out with a new frontend for 1/12th and the only part that was AE would be the lower arms.
he also mention he might release a complete IRS 12th Kit prior to the 12th season

Hi Sean

Repeat after me Purple fronts and grey Rears. that is all there is to 1/12 scale. Forget the greens, just purple fronts and grey rears.

Nice to see you are racing 1/12 scale too. Monday night I ran the 10L3 on carpet and my carpet knife. The 10L3 felt like a boat after the carpet knife. I use purple/grey. on the 1/12 scale. Just got a pair of pinks for my L30, and will let you know how they worked on blacktop after Sunday. I think they are the answer.

I am going to Racing City in South Glens falls on the day after Thanksgiving. Going to CRC some time soon too. They have an awesome indoor track. Nice guys to deal with too.

MONSTER STOCK GEARING

What kind of amp draw are you using with that gearing? I am using 31 or 32 / 100 with about 5 amp draw, cut down Putnam brushes, and small tires. I will have to measure everything and get a roll-out number. The car is a little flat at the end of a run but makes time just fine.

Monster Stock gearing, I friend gave me a roll out number to start with 1.80 Anyone have a starting point a 19t C2? Thanks

Chrisgt2 10-03-2003 10:11 PM

AMP DRAW??

Hmmmm......I dont think I can measure than with my Ear Dyno!:ha:
I do know this....you can pull 10-12 ams on the dyno.....but honestly the best running Monsters pull about 6-8 on the Fantom dyno, dont know why that is....we just did some testing

I was never one for rollout either man, too many variables. (motor always changing, tires changing, driving styles) I do what feels right for me and looks good on the lap printouts. We run some really tight tracks and it is really easy to overgear a Monster and not know it. You'll just shave some rpms off. I gear it so it sounds like a 19 turn at the end of the straight and its perfect. I Have run as high as a 30/100......but only on the big freeway tracks. Punch is a very important thing to have out of the corner.

Ray,

Bobby is coming to the Classic, I will be out of town (again). Our inside season just started last week so we will probably stay closer to home most weekends.

Thanks for the invite!

Ted
