Good job, Casey. Let me know when you catch Lufaso and VanWagner.

Man am I pumped to get my carpet knife running again for the 12th scale season. My track is finally getting a 12th scale class going, and it looks like there will be a lot of people doing it. All I need to do to get my car ready is install the reciever, install the esc, build one more battary, paint a body, and get a set of tires trued down. I should be able to get that done in a day or so.
Here's a problem I had the last time I ran it. My VCS center shock keeps coming apart. It will come apart on a very light tap to the pipes. I think the little star shaped clip that holds everything in is worn out. I'm going to try replacing it. Has anyone else ever had a problem with this happening? |
no not any one that i know either!
|
Dave, I got them covered:D

No problems with my center shock or the two on my RC10L3. Use the tool that came with the shock, make sure its "In the groove".
Have fun. I race my first 1/12 of the season this monday night. I bought my 11 year old son a used 12L3 for $75.00. He doesn't know it yet. |
racerDX-when the star clip goes-that shock will NOT stay together-so I would get a rebuild kit from AE and just replace all the innards!!

I have picked up a pair of Jaco "Aqua" compound. Anyone ever use these? Comments?

Rev. 3 Instructions Confusion...
I am building my first rev3 and I have a question about the servo saver/turn buckle location. The instructions say "Mount the tie-rod ends to the front of the servo saver..." Does this mean the ball ends on the servo saver point forward? If I do this and have the front of my servo case aligned with the rear of the front arm mounts, my steering tierods are like this / \ however if the instructions mean to have the ball ends point rearward then my tierods will look like this - - which is what i *think* they mean. Anyone know the answer for sure? |
The ballstuds should be facing front, so (although its an exagurated angle) like this: / \
|
Cracker-you want the tie-rods to point forward like that. That is normal. But having said that-I do know a really fast driver whos links are straight-so maybe its driver preference!!!
David Lee-Thank you so much for coming to race at the Gate. It was awesome to run in your qualifier. Your very fast-very smooth-very consistent. I had a whicked fast Rev3 yesterday-but mediocre driving kept me from doing what the car was capable of-Bummer!! Ray |
I don't really remember any tool that came with the shock kit, but I'll look again. I'll probably just pick up a rebuild kit anyway for the shock.
|
dx- The shock kit should come with a around 2" long skinny metal stick (like graphite that you would put in a mechanical pencil) that is used to pop out the retainer. But a rebuild kit is probably the best idea, since its cheap and a smooth well built 12th scale shock is very important.

Tire truer
What tire truer you guys are using?
|
Oh yeah.......... I remember that "tool". Yeah I still have it. I think I'll go try getting a perfectly built 12th scale shock now :) . Thanks stormperson.

akrcracer- I remember aqua from a few years back high traction low wear? If it's the same stuff.
speedxl- I got to tell you, cause you would understand. I had the opportunity to run some rug yesterday, and I finally was able to run my Q12 and was it hooked up  I was able to make the A, our first Sunday carpet race. I will find some extra horsepower and practice real hard and clean up! I can just feel it, it handles so good. Anyway thanks for listenin:cool: |
