Yup! That's where I race..... great track, hobby shop, and its a good environment with good people

I normally run Mobgum Tires (Jaco Based), but I've got a few Shepherd tires. I really like the wear. The don't chunk fast, and the don't slim down that fast. Really nice tire. Only difference is they are not as consistent over 8 min, as the Mobgums. The Shepherd tires feels like they are changing during the run.

Do you know of a method to get Mobgums for those of us who live in the US? I am having trouble finding a retailer who has a decent selection and will ship to the US, but I also haven't spent too much time looking...

So I am planning to get back into 1/12th. The last car that I ran in that class was a 12L3. Since I will be running at CRC, I will buy one of their cars since set-up help will be plentiful for it. What classes are popular for 1/12 there?

Also I run nitro buggy in the summer, any idea if the turn out is any good at the offroad track?

That is the Army life. It will be my 6th home in 14 years and that doesn't even count the trips to Iraq and Afghanistan.

One of the people you should try getting in touch with is Brian Wynn. He goes by 'dumper' on this site, where you will see him posting in the all of the various CRC threads. He works/drives for CRC and is an incredibly helpful and genuinely nice guy who I am sure will help you get started over there in NY.

I'm interested in giving the Mobgums a try. What compounds have you found that work well for med-high bite carpet in the lower power classes (13.5T/17.5T)?

You couldn't find a better place to race. 12th scale carpet all winter, and their off-road track is AWESOME. They do an East RC Pro series regional each summer, usually pulling 200 entries. Frank and the crew do a great job.

For 12th there is pro stock which is 17.5 blinkly and there is stock which is 21.5 blinkly..... there are only a couple of more weeks of running onroad thought, towards mid January we run indoor offroad till the spring then we go outdoors, there is a pretty good crowd for offroad. The most popular class being 2wd sct..... there is also always a nitro buggy crowd

In 17.5 you can drive around the whole track and never lift. 21.5 must be really like paint drying, and a massive underutilization of what you bought.
Did you mean stock is 17.5 and super stock is 13.5?
Does it bother anybody else that 1/12 went faster with cells and silver cans than it does today with a 21.5? Really... how slow is slow enough?

I remember running 1/12 on six cells with stock motors. Granted the cells were only 2000 mah and if you were rich you ran 3000 panasonics, but they were a lot faster than even 17.5 with a single LiPo.

I remember when 1/12th was what you graduated to when you got really good in another class. It was kind of an expert only class. I think that is what killed it. It was just too hard to drive for a beginner. By reducing voltage, the cars got a lot easier to drive for a beginner, and that makes it a lot more attractive especially since it is cheaper to run than TC.
