Battery ???

Is there a definate advantage in using a 1s 3.7 lipo w/booster or w/receiver pack over a 2s 7.4 lipo saddle pack in the Gen XL or in general for racing? Is the weight difference significant? Is there a difference in performance?

2S should be much faster.
However I don't know of any rules that allow that in 12th scale at this time ?
4 round cells have been replaced by 1S lipo, this is the current status of 12th scale in the US of A.

Thanks Redbull. So the saddle pack lipos are 1s 3.7? Any noticeable difference between the single pack and the saddle pack?

InspGadgt 02-19-2010 01:53 PM

Yes the 1/12th specific saddle is 3.7 voltage. Technically speaking the stick pack will have a slight advantage because of less resistance. But the difference is small enough that most drivers won't be able to tell. Unless you have a t-plate car then there is no reason to use a saddle pack.

Then don't switch, use the RC Dynamics booster instead...

Already have a TQ boost module that is working very well. Have not noticed any performance degredation of the servo, receiver or transponder in eight minute mains. Cost me a whopping $24.95, plus shipping.

So small and lightweight it isn't even taped down. Just floats above the receiver!

has the diff been rebuilt?? a gritty/notchy diff will cause all sorts of handling traits

wingracer 02-21-2010 06:22 AM

I find that a lack of droop in the pod will cause the same thing.

Mugen10 02-21-2010 06:37 AM

Change diff balls and add more droop.+

Body with good room.?

I'm building my new Associated 12R5.1 (Great car!)
And now i need a body with good room, because i use a tall ESC.

I'm using a LRP SXX TC Spec, and i have a Protoform Speed12 body.
But it's not tall enough for the ESC to fit under it.

So i need another body.
We are talking 2-3 millimeters more height under the body, where the ESC is located.

What about the Parma EE1, CRC Black Art Audi R8C Lightweight or Black Art Pacemaker R10 LMP Lightweight?
Does these body have more room? They look a little bigger.

And how does they perform? The tracks i'm driving are very complex tracks with lots of corners.

Try a Protoform AMR-12. It has a bit more room on the sides.

Frank-DK 02-21-2010 03:56 PM

Okay Thanks :)

How is the handling of that body?
Is it good in corners and still stable on the straights?

wingracer 02-21-2010 04:21 PM

Yes
