Kind of depends on your electronics. Some ESC's, Receivers and Servo's can run on lower voltage, but the ESC will normally take power over receiver and servo, which is not always good. Some ESC's or receivers will not run with out enough volts.
You can run a booster, but with the new software like Tekin's 203 the Novak will actually brown out when the power is pulled really hard to the motor. (actually the ESC has to re-boot) One of the other boosters will work, but they get pretty hot on oval and 10,5 in 1/12 scale. You can use a receiver pack, but if 2 cell lipo, you should use a regulator to not over drive the electronics, can burn them out. I've gone to a 2 cell LiFe pack which has the right volts, small in size and enough amps so you can run 2-3 8 min run with out issue. Hope that helps. what life pack may i ask ? |

Another plug for the RC Dynamics Booster. It really is a fit-and-forget item. Lighter than any receiver pack, smaller and more reliable. I won't bother buying a new speedo when they all get the new BEC circuits fitted, as it isn't worth the money when you have one of these.
With the Tekin speedo, you can set the LiPo (1S) cut-off in the speedo and switch it on, so no problems there. This booster has had no cut-outs, no brown outs, just reliable power to the electronics, and plenty of it! HTH :) |

The only booster I have not had a problem with is the RC Dynamics booster. Just as reliable as a RX pack and easier to use. I actually bought a couple of LiFe RX packs at the same time as a backup but I've never used them.

Randy or Yang.
I am running 1/12 scale with a 2 cell receiver pack plugged directly into the receiver with no regulator. Is this to much voltage for the speedo? Long term can it burn it up? Thanks |

If the red wire between the esc and reciever is in place then the receiver pack is sending 7.4v to the esc control cirquit. Of all the Novak, LRP, Tekin and KO escs I have used you do not need to remove the red wire to use a receiver pack or booster. Whether the esc can handle 7.4v or not might be determined by where in the series the bec (battery eliminator cirquit) inside the esc is placed, and I don't know the answer to that. Anybody?

Personalized Pod Plates for GenX10 and Gen XL
4 Attachment(s)
For those of you that have expressed interest, I have updated the website and am setup to take orders for personalized pod plates. Prior to Snowbirds, I made up two each for some of the CRC drivers: Hupo, Frank, Bryan, Mario, Dave Ehrlich, and Brian Bodine. Dave handed them out at Snowbirds and said they were a big hit with the drivers. If you have any questions please pm me on RCtech or email off my website.
The website is setup to take orders for individuals wanting 1 or 2+ engraved with our standard font (Arial Black Italic Bold) filled with white acrylic paint. Leadtime is 1-2 weeks plus shipping. I will take custom orders of 10 or more for teams, hobbyshops, or manufacturers. Email or Call for pricing (visit website's contact us page). Troy |

The older 3550 does NOT like 7.4 volts where the newer 3650 is OK from what I hear of the guys running them. I use a booster with the 3550 with no issues.
