It's really amazing to me how quickly the 1s Lipo has caught the interest of racers across the country in the 1/12th scale class. Even with the local class about 50% has made the move dispite there being a disadvantage as the rule is to go motor to motor. I expect the local track will be all Lipo by the end of the year and the 2010 points series will be lipo & brushless only.

Its happening faster then that here.

is everyone just using the smc single cell or are you starting to see the other packs out there like fantom and thunderpower?

What kind of rollout you guys running with 17.5 lipo cars? Trying to gather up the gears I will need. Track I think is 75X75 if I remember right.

17.5 Rollout with 1-cell LiPo is around 100mm +/- 5.

Hey Yang, Chris-
I don't want to get in the middle of your "discussion" but for what it is worth, in the testing we have done here the guys seem to agree that single cell 13.5 is faster that 4 cell 17.5

:lol:Actually Michael that was never the issue; the "debate" was sparked because Yang decided to call me out after he made the erronious statment that motor for motor is a closer parity than 13.5/lipo and I questioned his statement. For the record I never said thay were even only that the 13.5 is a better option than motor for motor, a point that I was able to back up with Yang's data. But just to put this to bed here it is again point blank. Per Yang's data his 13.5/lipo car was one lap faster than his 17.5/nimh. But per his previous post:

you will not be competative 4cell vs. lipo. no testing needed. guys that I usually run along side with, I was putting laps on this weekend. they ran lipo and 1 ran 4cell. i guarantee that winning this way is no fun. I just gotta get another lipo for my 17.5 car. the split of the class will not last long. I know the guys down there in SA.

Notice the part I bolded and underlined, Yang was mutiple laps up in a motor for motor run. So as I stated before, and just proved again, the 13.5 lipo car is a closer parity than motor for motor; one lap vs mutiple laps. And to you Yang if your going to throw around insults I suggest that you have the facts to back your position next time.

E

Hey get off the porch and start running 1/12 again:lol::D

theisgroup 05-20-2009 03:47 PM

nevermind.

our track is following other track around the country and we will be running motor for motor. but it will only be for a couple more weeks. after that everyone in our club should be running the 1s lipo.

I have not seen any of the lhs or online shops carry anything other then the smc 1s at this point. really would be interesting to see some of the other "approaved" packs available to the masses for testing.

Parity is a concept of equality of status or functional equivalence. The two battery types don't allow it. So there is no possible parity.

I tried to find the Trakpower on the web today without any luck. I think SMC is still the only game in town.

I talked to the local track owner and he thinks that he will have the TP in by next week, we shall see.

All, I know is by August at the latest, we 12th scale racers down here In San Antonio will be up and running 13.5 and 1s LiPo for our stock class. Although by ROAR's definition it is not stock, but it will be close but not equivilant to 4 cell /17.5. We thought about 17.5/1s but for us here it would be to slow in the back straight-away.

Hey Yang, were are my tires????
