What size do you guys true your tires to? (front and rear)

vtl1180ny 12-02-2006 08:16 PM

I start my rears a little large compared to others I start them at 50 and the fronts at 46mm. The grey rears tend to wear much quicker than the purple fronts on carpet. Once the tires are the same size I feel like the handling has gone off, I like a larger rear and I want them to last as long as possible...

Please--if this is your introduction to 1/12 racing, do yourself and your friends a HUGE favor. Start with a FAR more reasonable motor, like, I don't know, a STOCK motor, and learn to set-up and drive the car. Even a 4300 or maybe (shudder) a 13.5 if you're determined to go brushless. I GUARANTEE you that unless you're Mike Blackstock you will turn more laps in a heat with a FAR "slower" motor.

One of the biggest problems in this hobby is people with no business doing so trying to bolt in the most horsepower they can find. All they do then is get frustrated because they're being beaten by everyone in the stock class, a fact they usually blame on STILL not having enough power (even though they've got a "dead short in a can" power. They bust stuff up, including fellow competitor's cars that they use for brakes, berms, and retaining walls. Pretty much ruins things for everybody around them.

OK, rant off.

Scottrik
