Thanks for the info, they dont sound all that expensive, I'll just need to learn to use them. Cool body, thats like the one that came on my carpet knife, big bubble!

Now what about the pinion gap, is the way I'm setting it good?

* I took a couple days off work and finally got to drive my L4 that I'd built last month - 1/12 pan cars can be squirley, but once I learned how to go easy on the throttle movements it has been a lot of fun!
* Special thanks to Lee Cauldwell and Dennis Lyman for their help in tuning the car.

Question #1: What is the best way to keep traction up for 5 minutes or more? I've been putting a lot of Paragon on my tires and letting them soak in (running purple front / pink rear on asphalt) and the grip is great for a couple minutes, then the sliding takes over.

Question #2: some people have said that they used to use suntan location for grip, is this old school or still a good way to go? or are they messing with me?

Thanks,
12ths are a lot of fun, and I can see it will make me a better driver.

If you are running the car on an un-prepared surface, it may be difficult to maintain traction for a full 8. Paragon is usually good on asphalt but not always, try Niftech or Zip Grip, too.
Paragon or wintergreen oil and suntan lotion is still a good treatment on some tracks. Put the Paragon on and let it soak in a little then put on the suntan oil and let it dry for about 40 min (I like to put it in the sun), then wipe it off and massage in.
Every track is a little different, you need to experiment to find what works best.

Like OD said...

Black Paragon for 15 min, runny cheap suntan lotion for 30 min. Wipe it off really throughly 5 min before you race. You will have traction until your batts dump (longer than 8 min).

try a lighter weight center shock oil. this usually cures that problem
