Hi Pro12 guys, Ive found a second hand Yokomo YRX-12 in good condition, wondering if its too out dated to be compedative with todays L4's and Carpet Knife 3.2's ,and if Yokomo still make parts for this model.

This is true. There is no way to mount them on the chassis. That's why in the original design, the rear body support plate was about the width of the body, and thus served as a nerf bar.

Unless your bulkheads are bent, don't bother. The switch to 4 bolt has more to do with the fact that IRS is shifting toward them. There is nothing wrong with the 3 bolt, every speedmerchant (7 of 'em) car in the A main at the nats had a 3 bolt.

There is a saying in R/C planes. You build them to fly not to crash.

There is no need for nerf bars and most cars do not have them. Current 1/12th cars are so stable and pleasant when properly setup that if you are crashing bad enough to NEED nerf bars you need to fix you driving by slowing down and practicing or work on your car setup.

Since I don't use the damper tubes I actually narrowed my body support/chassis brace on my PRC Carpet Burn.

Pardon the dumb question, but what size socket wrench will I need for the 4-40 nuts? Sorry, I'm not used to the "standard" size measurements. And I have a dream that one day the US will convert to the metric system and be inline with the rest of the world. Sigh...

Adrian - true.... A car can either be designed for racing, or for bashing. Choices, choices...


4-40 ==> (off the top of my head) 3/16 for the small ones and 1/4 for the regular nuts, I think.

If it is the YRX-12 WE (silver chassis), OD and I feel this is the best asphalt car available, anywhere! It is not a good carpet car.

Because Yokomo no longer offers this car nor do they provide any parts support and because we feel so strongly about this design, OD and I have something in the works that will provide parts support in the very near future.

I think it is an old RC12L3 front end, not the newer 'L4' version. Why he would use that I don't know, but you can always post in his thread here and ask. HTH :)

Crashby, it will be used outdoors and it is the WC (sliver chassis) version so thats good to know.

New thicker tweak plate, and a switch to 4-bolt bulkheads and top plate are running changes to the Rev4 Just like stormperson said. No Rev5 anytime soon, like Ed said, when you're seven of ten in the A-main, a new car is not something you really look to do.

If you're eager for new Speedmerchant goodies, get the new tweak springs (they're better than the old ones), and wait for the new pod top plate for the 4 bolt bulkheads that everybody seems so sure they need on their car :lol:. Don't worry when the market's ready for further innovation, Bruce will deliver. 'Till then be happy that you have the BEST car out there RIGHT NOW.
