Is it a better tuning/ set-up option to use the tweak screws or the side springs on the T-Fource?

It looks like OD, Ken Jones and I will be at HW this Sunday to do some testing if anyone wants to come out and join us.

Does anyone know what is happening with CEFX? I see David Spashett over here ran a Trinity switchblade in the last 1/12 national not his usual CEFX.

12L4 front end question

On the 12l4 front end the stock setup from the top of the king pin is e-clip/3 washers/top arm/washer/steering block/bottom arm/
spring/e-clip....Questions:

Will increasing the amount of top washers lower the roll center and give more agressive steering?

Also, does anybody have any info on spacing up the front t-bar pivot for a lowered roll center? And will this increase traction?

Tire question:

Any body running BSR foams? What is difference between BSR purple,Jaco purple and Parma purple.

Yes there are differences in handling running different bodies. I have run pretty much every one that there is, and my personal favourites are the Speed 8 and Speed 12. The CEFX and Speed 12 are very similar in handling while the Speed 8 seems to have a little less downforce.

If you use the springs instead of the t-bar screws your tweak setting should last a lot longer between adjustments (especially after a crash) and it should make the t-bar last longer, since it allows the entire t-bar to pivot instead of constantly twisting the t-bar.

Josh's body does have a bit more steering than a Speed 8.

I believe Jaco and BSR use the same rubber, but PARMA rubber is different. The feeling I got was that PARMA and TRC tires have a bit more grip for the same compound shore rating than the Jaco/BSR style rubber.

IRS Rear POD System

Is anyone running the new IRS 4 post rear pod system on their L4? I picked one up yesterday and installed it, but I have some questions about it. When I tighten down the top plate it preloads the lower spring of the dampner disk, and the top spring has very little tension on it. Is there something missing that I did not do correctly?

DPowell 01-06-2006 06:09 AM

J,
The pre load on the lower spring is due to the pod plates being .080" shorter in height than the other IRS pod plates.

IS there something i need to do to correct this or do I just put it together and run it like that?

DPowell 01-06-2006 06:47 AM

To have the correct amount of preload on each spring, the chassis brace needs to be lowered the same amount. That means the 3 posts that support the brace will have to be shortened.

i always thought that the lower pods were just lower mount of the axels. it sounds like lowered pods is basically taking material off the bottom of the pod bulkheads. that seams wrong to me.
