Sorry, total nitro guy getting into electrics for the first time Thanks for the info tho As a newbee to electric, I'd advise you not to concern yourself with comm drops. If used the wrong way, they will give you only headaches. I use brake cleaner for motorspray, although it's not 100% the same. It does the job for me. |

For those using conventional 4 cell packs, I'm working on a solution to the problem. Anyone interested in being a beta tester? I recommend the product of VXR Racing. There is a LDO regulator which keeps voltage constant in their product. servo is provided with 6.7V no matter what load may be applied. For someone looking at getting into 12th scale...
check this out.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Yokomo-YRX-12-no...QQcmdZViewItem if the link doesn't work go to ebay and put this in the search section (6008660942) minuse the ( ) I just didn;t have the time to get going in this class. The servo alone is worth $99.99 so I think the price is quit fair. -Shookie <>< |
I just brought Mr. Shookie's 12th scale....he said it is YRX-12 Yokomo (and look like one).......however, I know nothing about Yokomo, does YRX-12 only has the WORLD EDITION (with the silver SSG chassis) only? There are no regular standard black carbon fiber YRX-12?
Just wondering....from those who know Yokomo....thanks. |
Howard, you know these cars don't have nitro motors in them, right?
|
Howard.....If you are going to race that car on carpet I would suggest getting another chassis for it. The stock one is a too soft and makes the car a hand full on carpet when the bite is high like at IRP. I have seen a few guys try to race them and they work ok until the traction level gets high like how it normally is at IRP now. You can get the CRC T-Force chassis for 35 bucks and maybe rear brace and then you will have a better car for carpet or higher bite carpet. Anyway good luck with the car and if you need any help stop by and see me.

The reason it works so well on asphalt is that the batteries are placed out from the centerline of the car further than any other 1/12th car. By moving the weight out away from the centerline of the car, you get better traction on surfaces with less grip due to better weight transfer to the wheels on the outside when cornering. On carpet, which has much higher grip that asphalt, you want to move the weight closer to the centerline of the car. Yokomo does make a black chassis for the YRX-12, which has the batteries in closer to the centerline of the car. I will check my inventory when I get home and see if I have one still in the package with a part number

Yokomo does not make a thick chassis. While the black Yokomo chassis does move the batteries in, it is still a thin chassis, which does not lend itself well for carpet racing. In the winter for racing on carpet, just throw the 12L4 chassis pieces under the Yokomo. In the summer, when you go outdoors, put the YRX-12WE chassis pieces under the rest of the Yokomo kit and you will have the best of both worlds!
About Lower motor POD plate....exactly, what is that..? The whole lowering pod like those from IRS...? And the Rear chassis cross brace......what exactly is that...? There are several carbon fiber on a little car like that, and I am kinda lost track whcih one is called which.... If I am using this one for carpet........can I just use the 12L4 chassis..? Or I have to get the rest items to match the chassis...? It almost sounds like it is cheaper to buy a used 12L4 afterall...thanks for your info.... |
