Info on 1/12

I been racing 1/10 touring cars for 2 years. I think the 1/12 are interesting.
I really like the idea of 8 minute heats and the ultra streamlined bodies.

Couple questions if I may.
1. Since they do not have front drive and rear is direct drive the cars seem to be mechanically simpler. I assume this makes them easier to maintain and not require so much time adjusting and rebuilding.
2. When racing road course are you pretty much at full throttle the whole time. How is the driving compared to 1/10 TC.
3. At the club level can you use the same 1/12 car for oval and road course cars

One thing I have found when racing 12th scale is to set the diff where there is a little slip, but to drive smoother with throttle inputs. I have foudn this to make the car perform better....now the thing is: i dont know if this is what is supose to be done when racing 12th scale,(as in if it is already common knowledge), but I experimented and thats what i found

Much less work.....Like driving a TC that is hooked up all the time without doing all the work.

Very close, but must be MUCH smoother than TC.....

No, need 2 seperate cars.....

Hey kids!

I have been racing for a while now but mostly 1/10 & 1/8 off-road. I am thinking about racing on the rug this winter and thought I might try the 1/12 scale class. What are the top two choices for cars and what tips and or advice can ya give me.

Gotta let od or Crashby respond to this one...They have built and driven everything

You might say if you are interested in stock or mod motor racing.

SpeedBump57 10-24-2005 07:47 PM

Thanks Bill, I am pretty sure it will only be for the stock class.

My favorite car for stock is the SpeedMerchant Rev4. CRC Carpet Knife 3.2 is right up there, too. But for your first car any of the new 1/12th cars will be competetive. You can't beat the 12L4 for price and availability, not to mention that you can turn it into any number of other cars with a conversion kit when you want something fancier.

Thanks Odpurple, where can I find info on the SpeedMerchant? I have somewhat read about the cars from CRC but have not herd of the other one you mentioned.
