what pinion should i be useing on a long carpet track on the mission with a p2k or a p2k2 motor and 86 gear,17 center gear.thx for any help.

Close to buy a Mission...
Just a few last questions...
1: Are the screws metric or inch type?
2: Can all parameters be adjusted without tearing apart half the car?
3: The older Schumacher's I've seen was almost slope free in the steering. I assume the Mission also is?
4: I under stand that a one-way diff is avaible, but how about a one-way pulley?
5: I understand that the Mission is durable and no problems like braking A-arms, broken one-ways or anything else. Correct?

Yes it's normal to run springs harder than the silver ones on carpet. Associated whites are ok, Piccos perhaps even better. I run the microshocks from time to time in the front. Then the driveshafts. No they are not CVD's, and people don't run the plastic ones because they would be weaker, but because they are too flexy. This sometimes makes the car to bounce/jitter under acceleration out of corners.

Unfortunately it's not the easiest car to work with, but everything CAN be adjusted without modifications.

The steering is the same, but I think all Schumachers have always had tons of slope in the steering...

One way diff is available and works fine. I can't see how a one way pulley would be possible???

It's extremely durable. Nothing can break it.

The best I ever did! (Well I can't say that actually because I'm sponsored, but anyhow it's a lovely car.)

Unfortunately it's not the easiest car to work with, but everything CAN be adjusted without modifications.

It's extremely durable. Nothing can break it.

Still about the pulleys...
Final drive is final drive. A car with different size pulley and same final drive ratio should work EXACTLY the same except for only one important thing. When you change the pulley, but keep the same spur, the motor position is altered pretty much. This will affect the handling so much you can tell the diffence. Top speed does not change.

Slope; How to explain, hmmm, loose connections in the steering. The servo can move, without the wheels turning.
Okay, I'm used to HPI Sport2, and there's a lot of slope. The Schumacher I've seen had much less slope, than my Sport2.
Also, my Sport2 is a little hard to work on, since I have to change blocks to adjust caster, rear toe and anti-squat. Front tweak screws is also hard to access. Is the Mission easier than that?
About the spur gear, I use to mount the largest possible to lower the motor, then I work with the pinions. Is this a good method on the Mission?
I'll check one out later today at my LHS, but it's dissasembled!
My car choises is Pro3, X-Ray, KX-One and Mission.
X-Ray is too expensive and bad supported where I live (the importer use to switch brands every year or two). So X-Ray is out of the question.
KX-One got a very nice design, but it has not enough adjustments (my main problem with KX-One). Besides, no one drives them around here. And then there's the one-way problem. So not really an option.
Pro3: Too much flex and slope for carpet. I dont like to buy a car, that I definately know I have to hop-op (stiffness for carpet).
The Mission seems like a matured product, with nice adjustments, good overall quality, really nice drivetrain and very durable.
How is the cornering speed of the Mission compared to a Pro3 on carpet? (Assuming both have proper setup and a reasonably driver)

The motor moves front'n'back not up'n'down. You have some fanny choices... I wouldn't think twice. TC3 or Mission, but everybody has a TC3 and that's boring. Pro3 is not a carpet racer at all. Mission is definately a plug'n'play car. All you need is silver springs, good tires, Stratus body, one-way, and you'll ready to win mod-class races (as far as the car is concerned).

Just checked the car out at the LHS - very, very nice! Bad thing is, that at the phone, I was told it was the carbon version the LHS got stock. But it was the S1, so I was a dissapointed about the price. The good thing is that the spare parts are cheaper than for my Sport2.
However, it still seems like the best choise for a tight and twisty carpet track.
Do you guys run Mission carbon or S1?
What about heatsink, do you guys use them? Something like TC3 clip-on type, they should fit as far as I can see?

ColeTrickle...I run the carbon on a tight twisty carpet track..its awesome...havent seen the need for a heat sink yet. Theres plenty of room around the motor for airflow...
I ate my first 17t drive gear this weekend. I understand this may be a problem...I'm running both stock and 19 turn, so not sure what I might have done to facilitate the stripped out gear..the good news is now I have an extra 20t, and diff gears, because they are all molded together...Just backordered the alloy drive gear...
Any of you guys running carpet...how often do you strip your car down to clean it up? My drive train seems to be a little less free, presumably from gunk and fibers in the drive train (after one practice and three long race days)...should I expect to strip the car down and clean it thoroughly often, if I run exclusively on carpet?

What part of the pulley did you strip? The belt part or the pin part on the shaft. Mine I can see wear at the pin. I mostly run mod with 7 and 8 turns. I suggest everyone to inspect your cars for pulley damage frequently to see if thier is a slight problem.
I have so far liked my car with extended wheelbase with the rear arms to the rear. Givin me some of the added steering that I have been searching for on asphalt tracks. Have anyone else experimented with this?
