You won't be dissapointed one bit with the MI3.5.

IT IS the easiest car to work on out there, no other car out there is as easy access as the MI3/.5. Diffs out with two screws, take the spur out with 1 etc etc, the list does go on

No offence to the TC5's...there no way as strong as the MI3's either.

There strength is on asphalt....we took the top 6 places in the BRCA UK National championship this year, says it all realy.

Just look at this thread too, support is first class.

Regarding lipo, there is a lot of space in the car, so most lipo's will fit, personally when im not doing 5 cell mod, i run a speed passion 4000mah lipo.

Can anyone describe the handling differences between having the steering links in the forward or rearward holes in the steering knuckles.

I know they have a 3rd hole on the latest versions which I think would make the links parallel with the driveshafts etc. but I don't know if I will be able to get hold of them tomorrow.

Their effect on carpet and asphalt would be appreciated as I'm rebuilding for some carpet/rubber racing on Sunday.
Will having them in the forward holes (making the links sweep forward towards the outside make the steering too aggressive?

Thanks

quick question - is there anyway to get the SMC 5000 to work with our car w/o doing some machine work to our bulkheads?

use a bitty designs lipo tray which hangs it out over the edge of the chassis a bit

I'm thinking the problem is that the SMC 5K won't fit under the bulkheads. I am not sure how the tray would help unless you're suggesting to move the lipo so far out from the bulkheads that it doesn't even sit underneath . . .?

Maybe shimming all 4 bulkheads up 1 mm would work . . .It would require quite a bit of work though. You could shim the roll centers down a mm, but you wouldn't be able to move the shock tower down with it so your shocks will need to be a bit longer. Your diffs, and motor would end up higher too. You might run into problems with the steering rack and the bulkheads.

Wait! I know the answer!

1 CELL LIPO fixes EVERYTHING!!!

J/K McGoo. BTW, do you know if you got the new top wire exit version, or the older side exit version of the 5K?

I've been told it shifts the lipo out about 5mm which means it clears the top deck/bulkheads.

With mine I just tape it out there and it works fine.

I have the orion platnium 4800's, which fit under the deck/bulkheads but because they have corally plugs on the top it has to sit out a bit

You know guys it wasn't that hard for me to take the sticker off and sand the SMC logo off the bottom side of the plastic case. Worked like a champ Heavy grit followed by 400grit.

I think the lypo tray above sticks out to far...unbalances the car.I have the tray that sticks out about 3mm...I dremeled out the bulkheads and fitted a core 5000...the car is still balanced and I only had to add 10gms of weight to bring the car up to legal weight...and all the weight is under the battery.

In australia we are not allowed to modify the case of a lipo in any way

Default Shock Mount options

Hi

Is there some options for replacing the upper shock mount plastic bush and washer (U613 part). Always misplacing the tiny barrel shaped bush. Hot Bodies do a nice Purple alloy one piece item, but doesn't fit. Anybody know another make that will ?

Cheers
