Pan Cars have NO Inner - so yes 1:1 (direct drive)

I ran an oval pan car this past weekend with a 1 cell lipo (3.7v) and a 21.5 brushless motor in "blinky" mode with short foam tires -- geared with a 78 tooth spur gear AND a 78 tooth PINION gear -- 1:1 x 1:1 and it was STILL SLOW.

Wasnt this supposed to be like 38 for a 6.5 brushless motor ?
(i suppose 38 is correct but i dont even know where i got this from...)

I´m confused
Since i dont plan on changing motors, what do you think i can do ?

I have an 87 spur, so running a 17 pinion should get me to 38 rollout, right ?

The inner ratio is 1:1 for pan cars, right ?

Thanks again!
Rollout = Tire_diameter * 3.1416 * ( Pinion_teeth / Spur_teeth )

For your numbers, that's 51.6mm. A 17 tooth pinion and 87 tooth spur would give 38mm rollout.

Pi is ~3.1416... not 3.146

Default BMI 235mm Rollers

I know this is not a sale forum, but I figured I would post here letting those that are into the 235mm cars. I have 2 BMI rollers for sale, some spares, 2 new unpainted bodies and a box of new rubber. I will post up some pics tonight when I get home. I will place an ad in the "Sale forum" with the pics and put the link here if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

Mike

Base setup:
40sh front tires/35sh rear tires
Centre shock a TC shock like the TRF with for starters a Tamiya yellow spring and 450 Tamiya oil in it.
Side dampers i got the Silva with the Asso blue spring on them from the 1:12 cars
1MM pod droop
Ride height front 5MM rear 5.5MM
Front springs: CRC green side springs
Body: Team Saxo
ESC Team Orion 64 degrees timing no turbo
Motor: Team Orion VST Stock 10.5 with almost no timing on the endbell
Pinion between 19 and 22 and spur 81
Tires diameter rear between 57 and 60
Hyperdrive inline axles at the front with all the shims on the inner side.
This is a 235mm car with a T-bar.
For a link car i use the Tamiya blue spring on the centre shock for starters.
Hope this is any good for starters setup.

Regards Roy

Hey Pro10noob, I was trying to understand about your ESC timing. Is that added through a program box or something? And does that create as much heat as timing at the end bell?
I don't have that option on my ESC.

I have had this setting with my HW ESC as wel as with the Team Orion ESC with good results.
I only add timing on the end bell if i am running in blinky.
IMO timing on esc causes less heat then timing on the motor.
I do run acc on 500
Also i use a cooler on the ESC as well as on the motor.

Regards Roy

Sorry if this question has already been asked, there is quite a few pages in this thread and didn't want to go through all of them. I know there is an approved list of bodies for USGT, but which is the best one to use as far as performance? There has to be one that handles better than the others.

Thanks!

Pro10Noob, great help!
Will look into this !
I must do some research to find spring color charts and stuff...

Anyway. I was able to get some droop now (got a longer shock, it seems it wasn't the pod hitting the main plate after all, but more the shock not being long enough something i learned from reading the thread haha) and the car is better, and
also was able to get a softer spring and the car is generally better!

I was on the track today, and something keeps happening, after i finish the slower turns from the track, the car looses its rear and spins. not as much in the faster curves, its more on the slower ones, and even when i´m soft on the "gas pedal" ...
You guys think it has to do with the side shocks ? (i have springs on those) next time i´ll put in another pair i have set up with no springs, to see if it makes it better, but am not sure car will get straight quick without springs ...

Opinions ? Suggestions !?

@Enzyme.......
Post your setup here and we can give suggestions.
If your new to Pro10 it can be a pain too get the car right but once you have it right, that smile on your face says it all and it won't come off if your chasing the 1:10 nitro guys down the track
I started with the soft srings from Associated(The oval spring set).
But now as my driving skills get better, i set my car up harder to get more corner speed and steering.
Using the inline axles give you more steer but the car will be alot easier to drive due to the longer wheelbase and lesser agressive steering.

I'm second in line for the bodies.
