I agree 100% of the cost thing...but look at the options...
Mabuchi=can be tweaked, unfair advantage to non-educated motor person
Black Can=Cheap, but doesn't last long-2-3 race days then Kaput..Can be costly in the end...
Brushless=If one has an extra one...why not? Again..if there is a solution, then im down for anything.

Going brushless will create a bigger difference in speeds depending on the speed control.... IMO

Just look at the sedans... You can tell who is running a standard brushless speedo vs the new tekin/ko/spx with the delayed timing advance.. All these brands are $200 with out the motor....

gears i have used was 37 at corona...39 at bcr and ocrc. with stock 69 t 48 pitch spur.

what gear did you use on those tracks with the black can Kuya Don?[/QUOTE]

all i remember is gearing down twice to make my motor cooler...Revo think about it,silver is stock and black is ??...do you gear it the same...if you gear it the same as silver that will be the outcome and i dont think it will last the whole series...just my opinion

I can stay with the black can...after all it lasted 4 races, a couple of club races and practice days at WCRC when it was open. I just need to lay off the commutator drops.

100% in agreement. $200 speedo in a $200 car......?

Keep the black motors, just spray it out really well (while it's running) to clean out the dust build up. If motors are acting like the brushes are no longer in contact then it may mean you have broken them in too long in the first place- 5min max if water dipping

I think the only thing that needs rule tweaking is the tire inserts. Do like Tamiya used to do- any insert brand. Why? Because they are impossible to tech without cutting the tire open. It's one less thing for tech'ers to worry about. Better inserts will work ALOT better in this heat also- less spin outs at high speed
