Local racer in Florida found out I'm a huge Tamiya nut like he is and gave me a used roller TA-05 v2 (for free!). Just finished going through it and rebuilding it, took me back to TCS days at trackside in WI running TA-05's, TB-03's, etc. with my family and friends. I'm throwing a torque tuned in it and will be a "training" car for my son and whoever wants to give on-road a try.

Nope, the one I was given is a standard TA-05 v2 with TRF shocks and a few Yeah Racing hop-ups only. I've got the standard motor mount, plastic steering, etc. Is the one pictured in Florida as well?

I don't remember where I shipped it but I gave it away for free with some parts.

After a long time of "I want an TA05ver.Ii" I managed to get an R
got all hop ups except alu motor mount and motor brace and unfortunately no exotek carbon chassis (is it still possible to get a carbon chassis for this car or just used?)

Now some questions which come up today:

1.) IFS system or carbon damper stay at front?
2.) Is the blue alu motor brace worth it or just blue
3.) Any setups? If nood I will start with my trf setup...

Thanks

I raced one for years, great car!

IFS only if you need to fit a low nose body. Very sloppy with all the links after a few race days. I went to stand up shocks, never looked back.

I don't have any setups but going with a 417 setup will get you in the ball park. Honestly, kit instructions setup was pretty close, change what you need to to suit your local track conditions.

As for the carbon chassis, I never bothered with it, tubs don't really tweek even if they are heavy. They can tweek but not like a carbon one. Carbon is easier of course to re set but I raced my tub for 3 years with 0 issues.

I ran my TA-02 v2 locally in the VTA class. Took the TQ and Amain win in the first 4 races of the year. I took off the IFS and went with a standard front shock tower. Great chassis.

I already thought that IFS isn't equal or better but it's looks cool but I hoped I m wrong. I stay with shock towers front and rear.

thanks!

Not really, physics are physics. All the same principals, just adjust to local track conditions. Mine always drove great.

No, they are very different parts. The V2 is a narrower chassis overall, and the extra width was removed from the center.
