Any good starting setup for TA05V2 with Exotek Chassis (std shock position)

I'm still running mine, I'm loving it. Gonna run it til the parts run out... Plus I'm not pro enough to tell the difference between this and the TRF vehicles. It's a clean chassis, and with a few upgrades, it's pretty respectable.

Currently running an EZRUN 60A + 17.5 motor. First time, I ran it with mamba max + 4600kV. Broke SOOOOOO many part with it

The 17.5 setup never gets hot, can run battery packs back to back without any pause in between, 'cept for the air compressor to clean my car!

Just redid the shocks and serviced the diff... Still running the plastic shocks

I have the TA05 v2 I prefer it over the newer TA06 because it has fewer moving parts. I had a set of TRF shocks left over from when I used to race a lot. and I added ball diffs. I am a hobbyist and race once in a while. I can't match the hard core guys but I have fun. The car initially had glitch problems because I used the NOVAK EDGE running a fan and transponder. I didn't solve it until very late in the game. I enjoy going to Tamiya Raceway to practice. .

Hi FNG, added ball diff? My kit came with ball diffs as far as I know, do you mean you replaced it? I just checked mine during the rebuild, and it's still quite smooth. My only complaint is that rubber bits that the car picks up off the track does tend to get into the ball and disc, since half the ball is exposed to the air and the diff isn't sealed. The good thing is, this car is really easy to service...

I replaced the stock ball diffs with ceramic diff balls. Even if you run at Tamiya Raceway there is a lot of tire residue that can get sucked up into the diff housing.

Anyone looking to get rid of their TA05 V2? Let me know, I have a EX05 v2 now, but have a lot of slop. looking for a 2nd car for parts or CF/aluminum upgrades for ex bulkheads front and rear and CF uprights. Thanks!

Same here, I love this car. Im not good enough driver to notice the difference with my tcxx. In fact I break more parts with my tcxx. LOL

The TA05 is still relevant, and it won the 17.5 class at the last speedtechrc race at Tamiya against a lot of formidable TRF and carbon fiber clad premium vehicles.

I'm running with gear diffs front and rear on my V2 w/Exotek chassis. Just rebuilt the front and went with 500k diff oil and need a suggestion on diff oil in the rear. Running on asphalt parking lot that is bumpy and medium grip.

I can only guess at it, but from the TRF417 setups I've been looking at, it seems that 1000cst is the most popular choice for the rear diff(& it might be worthwhile to keep some other weights between 800 & 1200cst handy, imho)....

Seems extremely thin. Not real sure I understand the reasoning behind such a thin diff oil in the rear. Could someone explain please?
