Hi guys,
I was wondering if you could tell me how to work out the ratio when people say they have like a 8.03 ratio??

Cheers

What pitch are they using?

here is the ratio for 72T 48pitch. that's the only ratio i use
72 SPUR GEAR
21= 8.60
22 = 8.20
23 = 7.82
24 = 7.50
25 = 7.20
26 = 6.92
27 = 6.66
28 = 6.43
29 = 6.21

Take the spur, divide it by the pinion, and multiply that times the ratio of the transmission (2.5 in the TC3). So a 100 t spur with a 29t pinion would be: 100/29*2.5=8.62 ratio.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but has anyone here had problems with the steering rack binding up on them? Recently I noticed that there when sliding the steering rack from side to side, there are 2 places where it binds up. I have cleaned the bearings and bought a new rack, but the problem is still there. I checked the bearings pretty quickly, and even took some calipers to them to check if they were out of round, however, they seem good.

Is this a common problem? Should I recheck my bearings or are the posts most likely the problem? If anyone else has had this problem, let me know.

Oh, and does anyone know where I can get replacement bearings for the TC3 steering rack cheap?

griffin,

sometimes the rack will have high spots where the bearing gets pinched a little. take a sharpie or mark where its binding and lightly sand with fine grit sandpaper where its binding. dont go too far tho, a little will do the trick.

I already encountered this problem on my FT TC3 recently. MarchTC3 suggestion is what I did and the problem on my steering was resolve..

Really? I'll give it a shot, but it seems strange that the problem just popped up out of nowhere, and it happens with the old AND new rack.

I'll give it a shot though.

Well heres were i'm at. System is in and running. Little more complex then my ss5800 was but I am sure it will be well worth it. I hope to have this out tommorro if its not raining.
