Gear question
What gear do I need to use for a 19t motor on a TC3? Why do all the gearing charts for Associated cars/buggies only have stock, then 16t and below? I was under the impression that 19t were fairly popular... Yes, I'm a newbie, and its pretty frustrating to get a motor only to find no info whatsoever in the manual or their website (which has a ton of info, except for that) on how to gear it...
Thanks -David |
I was running a 24t pinion at my track. But it will vary for your track.
rdub- try to find someone with a losi and ask them if they still need their ball cup wrench. All it is, is a little piece of metal it doesn't have a handle and all those nice things. If you don't have dremel or rotory tool go to your local hobby shop and see if they will grind out a flat head screw driver to make a ball cup tool. Or mabey someone at your track will be able to do that. |
Thanks, I'll probably be running at Socal most. Does anyone know why Associated excudes 19t motors from all of their gear charts? Just curious...

Hey Guys,
Been struggling to gain a little more on power steering entering corners, last race I made the following changes throughout practice... 1. Went from 0 degree caster to 4 degrees (made a difference but not enough) 2. Went stiffer in the rear on the springs (again added a bit more but still not were I want it) 3. Went from 1.5 degree Toe-out to 1 degree Toe-In, this was a disaster, made the car undriveable under breaking for a tight corner... My question is, should I adjust something else to correct the handling, because once I started figuring the car out I had the amount of turnin I wanted, but the car was on a fine edge from controlled to spinning out... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, right now I am thinking about going to 0 Toe and seeing how that works next race... Later! TigeRyan |
Have you tried running less toe in the rear? You could try longer wheelbase too.

Originally posted by rdub202 racer would a tool like either of these work and if so how? If yes, then just take a pliers and grip the flats of the ball cup. Rotate the cup and it will just pop off the ball stud. If no, then I'm confused of what you wish to do. It seems as if you are trying to make a lever to slip under the cup to pry it off. Am I correct? Just use the pliers and rotate it off. |
TigerRyan...need a little more info.
Did you change the droop in front? increase the droop first..then try it (increase the amount on the droop gauge). |
I have not messed with droop yet, I am at 5 on both the front and rear, I've personally never found a reason to run uneven droop, but I am always up for suggestions :)

Droop won't really do much for you in terms of on-power steering. Droop is a corner exit and entry adjustment. Try less rear toe, i bet that'll work.

Droop establishes the point at which the suspension stops moving (drooping, as it were) and more or less makes the car turn. It's kinda the limiter for movement prior to the turn.
The more droop, the more movement in the suspension prior to serious turn in. The less, the quicker the turn action begins. |
I put the rear shock tower on the front.... similar to baker's but now I have almos no suspension travel... so I cut the cups & sprint retainers.. and got some back..
HOW exactly do you setup with the rear shock tower? Thanks Rich |
