Re: Help on setting up One Way Diff
Originally posted by SpeedChair Hi, I need help setting up my TC3 to run with a one way diff. I softened the back suspension, and stiffened the front, running no brakes on the ESC, running Monster motor with red springs on both sides. Problem: car is very loose on rear end when I turn into a corner, rear wants and does spin out. Any advise would be appreciated... Speedchair :tire: TonyP has some good setups on his site (http://www.competitionx.com) - grab one of the basic ones and see where that puts you AS A STARTING POINT, then we can move from there. . . Please post your present setup - springs, oil, mounting holes, ride height, droop, etc. Basically, it's like saying to a mechanic - "It makes this noise. . .you know, a 'whirrrrr'" :p |
noob to electric w/noobie Q's
Well i'll be recieving a tc3 from a trade shortly... it'll be my first electric. Anyway, are there any MUST upgrades or build/rebuild tips i should know of off the bat? I was planning on getting the rally conversion kit in the near future..... any suggestions or dos/don'ts?
any input is appreciated. thanks! |
I am assuming your are planning on ralleying it? Which kit is it? (RTR, racer, team, factory team) Where do you plan on running it? What for power plant do you plan on using? (stock, mild mod, hot mod)
|
not really sure, but i'm guessing it was just the team kit. he's including a trinity chameleon 19awg motor and futaba mc210cb ESC. i also have a trinity p2k. i'm not really sure where i'm gonna run it.....mostky dirt i guess.
thanks |
futaba mc210cb
Is that the old (10 years +) black esc with the plug in fuses? If I'm wrong ignore me. If I'm right that may be the first thing you need to replace. One of my friends used to have one which he ran with a 15 turn. He was constantly replacing the fuse and the thing didn't take long to fry. I don't know what the motor limit of the speedo is but I would think the amp draw of a modern 19 turn is probably on a par with a 15 from 10 years ago. If in doubt Ask to see it run and check the speedo temp. From memory the driveability wasn't brilliant either. |
yea it's the disconitued one..... well damn.... what are some inexpensive ESC for bashing? thanks
|
Well the Novak Explorer 2 is a great ESC:nod: ...

how would that compare to something like say a associated F1 Reverse?

Can???
Is it possible to get toe-in/out adjustment for the rear arms??? on my TC3???
|
nope...not unless you want to rig the NTC3 rear end on the car...and there is really no room to do that...
Most rear toe -in you can get is 1 with teh F block and 2+2 block... You never need more then 3 and less then 1... you can though do the F block and the 2+2 and then use the Losi 1 Degree Rear Carriers reversed to give 0 Toe-In in the rear. |
toe adjust on rear
you can mount the front arms, c-hubs and steering blocks in the rear. this would allow toes adjustments, but would loose wheel base adjustments. mounts juts like ntc3.
|
You can buy Losi XXX-S rear hubs in different toe settings, and mount them backwards (on opposite sides, R on the L, L on the R). With these you can use the standard TC3 rear set-up and adjust your toe-in/out as needed. A very cheep set-up. They come in 0deg., 1/2deg., and 1deg., I believe. You may also have to use the "F" front hinge pin block in the front of the rear of the car to get the toe-in/out desired, depending on the extremes. Lots of guys use these parts, if you need any help just ask.

upgrade kit
are there any news about a tc3 upgrade kit?
|
In my opinion, rear toe isnt one of the most changed adjustments on the car. Anti squat is changed more than toe. I guess i am just trying to understand why you would want to add all those parts to the rear and complicate the design, for a seldom changed setting. Rear toe does have dramatic affects on the handling, but unless you are going from carpet to asphalt, bumpy to smooth, from track to track on a weekly basis... you pretty much find a setting at your local track that works... and leave it. I myself use the losi hubs on the rear with the stock hinge pin mounts to adjust toe in the rear, and washers for anti squat. About three months after the TC3 first came out, a good racer friend of mine that was in MD at the time, added front parts to the back of the car to make adjustable toe. In one of them late night racer conversations on the phone, he relayed he had alot of problems with rear steer on carpet, because of the "bump steer" added due to the effect the toe buckle had on suspension travel. Adding that one more link changed the setup on the car that much more, and made it inconsistent. Not to mention the added slop from having more parts to shim up. Believe me, im one of the first guys to whip out the dremel and cut on my car, IF the change seems it will improve the car. My motto: Drive it like you stole it! Learn the stock car and how the suspension works. Roll center, roll moment, roll rate, anti squat and anti dive, all those phrases that... when manipulated at the right time, make you a force to be reckoned with on the track... ANY track! I know i know...just tell me to shut up! LOL :D

G'day, help please?
HI, i just recently got a TC3 and was wondering if you guys out there could give me a few set up tips. Its the Team kit, and i run on a concrete low traction track here downunder. (www.castlehillraceway.com, for the curious) Im new to the sport so im running it with a 540 (the motor mount has been dremeled out due to the motor not fitting stock???) Any help would be greatly appreciated. And, as yet, i have no extra go fast bits.
Cheers, Alan. |
