I was thinking 8.5-9.0

Do not plan on racing this kit.

Thanks!

If you are not racing it, just drag racing for a very short period of time per run...I think you can gear more. 8.5 final with 4T is very much what I use for racing on track. If I do drag race...I will put more gears on it.

OK give you a week...

You will be back in stock on "SOME GT ESC"? What if I were to buy one and had a problem? Would it take months to get a replacement? What is the reason for the short supply?

I want to give the benefit of the doubt SP, and try something I have not used before, but at what cost?

1. Give us more then a week now...we have to fulfill all of our dealers in USA first (like A-main, stormer...etc) before we can supply for online customer. So please check with big online shop or your local hobby shop FIRST before checking us online. Especially all the GT series ESC. They are on high demand....

2. All of our MOTOR and ESC has 30 and 90 days warranty...all of our warranty item will be shipped from USA...UNLESS they are out of stock. We replace only NEW warranty products. We don't really fix the broken item within the warranty period, we simply replaced the same item to our customer within a reasonable time. And of course, if you overheated your motor, plug the +/- at the wrong side for your ESC, those are not under the warranty terms and will not be covered.

Like I mentioned, we supply to our US dealer, our sponsored drivers, then we will have them available on our direct sale site. The quantity are very limited. And our motor and esc sells thru out the world...countries like Germany (3-500 orders), UK (3-500 orders) and Japan (2-400) demand the most of the GT ESC and motors....US, on the other hand, only demand stock ESC and motors...our inventory are usually "enough" to supply for dealers, drivers and other online customer. So once they are online...you should pick them up before they are all gone. And they are usually out of stock within week.

Help please for 13.5 TC boosted setup. I have seen Jimmy's 17.5 setup. Would I just try this setup but say change the FDR to something like 7.5 for indoor carpet 36x80 med/high grip carpet?

Thanks,

Ivan

Try Jimmy's setup first...then compare with mine.

Hey all!

I am new to the Speed Passion family. I did my second race with 17.5 boosted and finally got some performance.

The first race was terrible as I couldn't get any speed out of the car. It turned out that it seems I was geared incorrectly.

Originally I had a ratio of 6.5.

Now 10.4.

The track is 60' x 48'.

Now the good news is I am getting power from my car. The problem is I seem to loose power on my MMM motor about 3 minutes into the run. The temperature is at about 150 after I check it so most likely over heating.

My question is regarding timing on the physical motor... should I be putting the timing as low as possible since the speedo does all the boost? I also am curious about the MMM for 17.5 boosted class. Would it not be better to use my older lower timing motor for more torque?

If I decrease the timing on the motor it should give more low end power and less heat. The top end should be similar if I increase the boost settings on the esc?

What do you think... ?

I have never seen anyone run 10.4 final drive on on road especially in stock...that is like an off road 1/8th buggy in MOD final drive. Are you sure the 10.4 final is correct..? If so...you are way way way way way way way undergear.

That was my thinking too until I did the testing. If I ran my original v.3.0(with 10degree upgrade) Speed passion motor with the 10.4 ratio everything was awesome. It is a 417 car with 113 spur, 21t pinion... (113/21)*1.94=10.439. Temp was about 115 after 5 minutes.

If I run the new MMM with the same gearing of 10.4 then I see the heat issue. The only difference I can see is that I had my MMM turned to highest possible timing.

I even have the 10degree board in my v3.0 original.

My car was the fastest on the straight and had decent bottom end. In fact I was thinking of going to a ratio closer to 11 for next race.

I tried 7:1, 8:1 and 9:1... all of them lacked power and speed on our carpet track. The 10.4:1 was the best by far. My lap time is about 1 second difference from 6.5:1 compared with 10.4:1... my driving line was the same.

>.. Anyways... I am just curious about timing of motors... do people run them lowest timing possible on motor... or highest and why. I obviously will try it out next time however I am going to IIC so I just wanted people's input.

Also FYI, I run a ratio of 4.1:1 without boost and at IIC I will definitely run at least an 8:1 ratio to start for 17.5 boosted due to the larger track.

TheZoof 09-27-2011 02:14 PM

One other question I had is due to this ratio my car has a lot of built in drag break. Does speed passion offer any push control type setting to counter that issue?

Inspire V2

I am still confused as to if the Inspire V2 can support sensored motor? I don't see where you would plug the sensor wire into the esc? But someone posted on here that it support both sensor and sensorless?

Can someone chime in on this?

TIA,
Ron

10.4 FDR in 17.5, now that is crazy. :weird: When I used to run the SP 2.1 in boosted 17.5, I ran a 4.8-5.3 FDR! That was with the 528 software, I don't know if there is a new version out. I think you went in the wrong direction with the gearing if you started with a 6.5 FDR and couldn't get any speed out of the car. 150* F is not overheating a motor, you should not have any fade at those temps.

I'm excited to be running an SP speedo again soon. Running mod this season so I just ordered a GT 2.0 Pro to replace my Tekin.
