What's some good settings for 13.5 and 10.5 speed passion motors do I need the motor timing up, down or leave it in the middle ?

I'm confused with it, any tips please :confused: the track is outdoors with a 45m straight, mostly fast flowing with only a few technical places.

fdr 7.3 on a medium size track.

I must be gearing the wrong way ? the SP motor instructions give a guide of 4.8-6.0 ans also with the SP speedo pdf for 13.5t they say 5.5-6.0 :confused: mine does sound like it's still accelerating at the end of the straight.

Your FDR of 5.73 would signal to me that you on a Big track. Have a look a few posts back for the setup I posted for 200ft track to get an idea of settings.

I would at least change your current #13 setting to 2 and #15 to 3. If it seems slow, don't be afraid to drop several teeth on the pinion. A zero delay SC setup typically needs a lot of RPM to go fast, and we typically will run it on short / med technical tracks as you get a lot of rip out of the corner with it.

How do you know what the end RPM is #15? I've never seen values applied to that setting, I didn't know that was the "end RPM" like on the Tekin.

If that is the case, what setting corresponds to a ~15,000 RPM end? I guess I am running a 6,000 RPM start and ~9,000 RPM end! That is no good...

I have an EXCEL calculator file built to allow me to input my ESC settings and show the RPM window. I'll post it later tonight when I get home from work.

Hi,

Tried my SP 13.5t today with the GT2.0 and the 528 software. I used the 'instructions for the stock software' 7.0 fdr was very slow so tried the 6.5 well actually 6.44 and,

9-8
12-7
13-3
14-5
15-2

was pretty quick and temps were low. It says 'to get higher motor speed choose higher timing values' so I increased 9 (timing) and 12 (charger timing) is this correct ? it was faster on the straight and temps were still low.

I then increased 13 (timing start rpm) and 15 (charger timing punch) to give me more power in the short straights, is this correct as it didn't really seem to do anything ?

My temp on the motor got to a maximum of 60deg C, where do I go from here ? should I put the settings back to as they were and gear it up eg. 6.0 then check temp or keep increasing the settings on the speedo ?

Track is med/large with a 45m straight, and mostly fast flowing with a few small or slower technical bits.

Help confused and just seem to be going round in circles with my settings and gearing. :(

I just realized the same. Tried calling the SP number, but it doesn’t appear I have enough shipping time before leaving for the nats.

Is it acceptable to remove a section of case and clear tape over it or something? Anybody know where the led is located?

Jimmy, that is good stuff. you should be named humanitarian of the year. now the question is, for 17.5, what are your settings for a fairly large track with lots of grip?

try these settings :)
it says 100422 software but its a typo the settings are for the 100528 :)

One assumes that the motor will continue to accelerate past the end point as this is just the point at which the last timing is applied, thus a motor could be pushed to 75000 RPM etc but the actual timing additions will end at the end point.

Also on fairly open tracks with a sweeper into the main straight most motors will already be hitting 12K RPM so is there any benefit to the additional heat produced by using lower start points as the Brushless motors have a lot of torque naturally and adding timing reduces torque for the gain in RPM's surely the higher start point will run cooler and use the motors natural 'grunt' prior to adding any timing.

Just for information purposes can someone at SP confirm this is correct.

Between the Tekin and SP I have run start RPM's ranging from 2,500 to 9,500 RPM and I must say they can pretty much all be made to work. They all just take different FDR's, motor timing, ESC settings, etc. There are a myriad of options that allow any one setting to work with a large range of values.

EDIT: I should add that this is in touring car, 2S, with 13.5's and 17.5's.

Just got this opened up. Looks awesome. I've got a couple questions. For #12 SC Punch, is that the value from the programming card, or the stage? For instance, Stage 7 is Value 8 on the programming card.

Also, how do you know which value corresponds with #15? The SP setup sheet says value 1 is Motor Hot - Max, and then it goes -1, -2, -3, etc. How does that correspond to your 200, 300, 400 values?
