Aaron said he had to cut his motor shaft a 1/8th inch and it doesnt hit, so thats not a big deal. I was just worried about gearing, If I need to buy some new pinions and spurs, I want to get them ordered up

with 13.5 i was able to get needed gearing with a 114 spur. i now have a 106 spur this week, wanted to see the difference in feel with different spur sizes but same gear ratio, and yes there is a difference. the 114 or 116 i forget which but its the same general overall size as the 48p 87 that comes with the car,

What spurs fit in the car? Do they all fit? Or is it just the schuie ones? I have a bunch of spurs from my cyclone I hope I can use

Hi,Why do you say you should run the biggest spur possible ? I am asking cause a few weeks back I saw a post that said given the same FDR you should run a smaller spur... cant remember the reasons , trying to find it now
#415
Haha, found it!
I just worry for when im at the track. Dont really strip spurs alot, but its always the thing you dont have you need. And im not sure if the hobby shops will have a spur to fit or not. I can always stock up, but I want to find what I want to use first, instead of going nuts and buying all different sizes.
EJ won reedy this year in 13.5, and he used a 88 spur I think (it was a tiny spur). So I cant see it being bad if you run smaller spurs?

thank you.
thank you.

BOR I HAVE GEARS IF YOU NEED THEM.THE MOTOR WONT SLIDE BACK FAR ENOUGH IT HITS THE PULLEY SO 114 IS A GOOD MIDDLE GROUND I DONT THINK 106 WILL WORK WITH WHAT I RUN BUT WOULD WORK FOR 17.5. iF YOU NEED HELP WE CAN GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER TOMORROW MORNING.

We have received several requests for a solution for LiPo in the Mi4. I try to avoid "specialty" orders since they rarely pay for themselfs...although that said, if this is a simple mod like remove 1 lug from tray for 5 cell (providing size of cuttouts are close) I'd be willing to take pre orders and make a fixed qty + a few.
Using an offset pack on tray is already being done on other low clearance TC's. It accomplished several things. 1) balance with less weight since weight is further from center. 2) unlimited battery size 3) better weight dispursment since it opposes the motor at a slight angle 4) in your case gives the clearance you need for pinion / motor shaft interference.
Here's a pic of my brand X chassis, many team guys are running this way also.
On this chassis with a SMC 5000 at 10.5oz it took the 3.0 oz tray and 1/2 oz of lead to balance a mod setup. On the 009 believe it or not..their putting weight on the motor side of chassis to balance and "make legal weight".
I will have a look at Ritchies (skypilot) Mi4 on Sunday, and have a better idea on what will be required.
