lrp spx stock spec

I've been using the SPX with a SP 17.5 Ultrasportsman. I've tried FDRs of up to 5.0 and I've found that it actually needs a FDR of about 4.1 on profile 7 or 8 to be quick. The SP 17.5 is much faster than before when it was on my old GTB geared at 3.7.

Hi guys first time today running a spx with a tekin 17.5 on a large layout and as crazy as this sounds i ran on profile 8 and 12deg on the motor and my fdr was 7.22 and it had lots of punch and top end was the same or better then any 1 else others where running about 3.55 frd so it shows that most are gearing to high.so dont be affraid to try something crazy

i was told by the LRP representative in holland that if i run a gearing below 4.2 the speedo will get too hot and it will cook its self and then the warranty is void !!!!!

That's funny, because my SPX barely even gets warm after 6 minutes in near 90 F ambient temperature with the SP motor geared at 4.1. The motor comes off at about 145 F.

yeah mine too but i was warned and i read they do go wrong and i dont want to risk my warranty and it is the internal temps that are the worry
i run 5.5 gearing so i am no where near the limit

Use the LED method as mentioned in the instructions to check how hot the ESC is getting.

My lap times go up with even a slightly lower gear ratio and my top speed greatly decreases. I've got to try the SPX with another motor to be sure, but I am quite certain that the Speed Passion 17.5 Ultra Sportsman (or at least my particular motor) needs that kind of FDR.

I was running a tekin rs pro for a while but got sick of the software stuff ups all the time and brakes where not good no matter what i tried and i can name five more people with the same problem and i found the the lrp spx holds the timming range alot longer then the rs pro but the timming on the rs comes on alot harder but fades faster at same fdr.At this point the rs pro is far better on small to med tracks and the lrp spx pulls alot harder with more track to get around.I always get ask where to start with fdr with rs pro and spx all i can say is find a fast car in the race undergear to when you can see the timming come on hard and then gear up from there to match the faster car or better it and you will be at alot lower frd then the faster car most of the time.hope i could help.

I was wondering if this SPX controller seems to work better with a particular motor brand or it seems to work the same with different brand motors?
I'm ready to buy a 17.5 for one of my cars which already has a Novak ESC but I'm planning on running a SPX in the future and if it works better with an X-11 or ??? then I'll get that motor now looking towards using it with the SPX later.
I hate buying one thing only to wish I'd bought something else instead later on.

Pretty safe in my book...for whatever conditions you are running.
With a Trinity 13.5 Duo in TC, I usually end up with...
ESC: 110-115* F (no heatsink)
Motor: 165-175* F (heatsink; no fan)
After a 5-6 minute run with a 75-85* F ambient temp (NorCal).
