here is a project i decided to try out... running rubber/carpet.
basically, i used the bottom plate from my MRE and installed the MS bulkheads... the idea of keeping the 1-pc bulkheads, but trying the hewer style steering.
probably wont be able to test till next weekend...

This car is Awesome! Finally ran it today.Having to use a comprimised setup a bit...Kit parts with foam.Still....Tryhard,Yes it steers like mad but, without loss of the back end.Couple of tweaks and the thing is rocking.Got the front diff in today too but, with the locked front end working like it is....Can't wait till I get the carpet bits now.If it's this good now...O.K.,rant over with.lol.Mario.

I have just ordered part number 49358 from rc_champ. I have now heard that the Tamiya Spool is garbage? is this correct? and do I need anything else to install the spool? Like a centre pulley?

It looks like it is decent quality other than the plastic outdrives?

Running the tamiya spool seems fine to me i've maybe ran 3 meetings on my MRE spool and it's holding up fine. When i ordered my spool i had to order a front one way pulley. You might want a pair or two of derlin outdrives just incase you break them.

I also ordered part http://www.tamiyausa.com/search.php?...x=18&image.y=7
I hope this is the right pulley? I have an MSX. If not the parts were very cheap anyway so it's no real big loss, just means I will have to place another order sooner rather than later
I guess it's not the right pulley anyway, I can use the pulley from my one way that's on the car now untill I order a new pulley?

That's the centre 1way pulley (pulley by the spur gear), you need a front one way diff pulley. Haven't got the part no. on me but you can always look on speedtechrc's website to get the part no.

I believe that's the part you are referring to. As I have a one way already on the car, once I remove the one way I am sure I can take it apart and use the front one way diff pulley that came with the kit. Please correct me if I am wrong so I can go into panic mode and try and find one asap!!!

Thats correct. The front one-way and spool use the same pulley.
BTW, if you want some tougher outdrives, the TA05 spool comes with steel outdrives that are a perfect fit...
Personally though, I never found the durability a problem with the delrin outdrives outdoors.. it was only when using it indoors (which is very rare, as I normally use a 1way) that I found it too be a problem.

the MRE uses a different front spool center section than the 415 one posted, and the alum sleeves help alot
I am running an MSX not an MRE so I think everything is sorted with the parts that I have ordered and the pulley I already have and I also run outdoors on Tarmac or asphalt so durability shouldn't be a problem. I am not running Modified it will be mainly for stock or 19 turn. so I think I shouldn't have any issues.
Cheers for the advice guys.

Drilling a body
I'm finding it impossible to drill a shell for my TRF415, its a pre-painted Hot Works 350Z and as its a universal shell there are no marks! I tried putting paint on the top of the posts but it is impossible with the human hand to get it perfect first time and therefore it ends up smudged and useless. I also thought of laying the shell next to the car and measuring across but it is hard to tell if the shell is lined up straight next to it, plus there are loads of nasty measurements to take.
So my question is what's the best way to drill the shell correct?
