Hey guys!
I just ordered my 415 yesterday, from Ultimate Hobbies in Cali. USA. I should have it by tuesday. I need a carpet set-up. As we're still running indoors, here in the northeast: PA, NJ, etc. . Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As i have the car running so well indoor with oneways i see no reason for not using them as a starting point for setup outside. The car just flows so well with them, its outstanding. Rick

Default Belt Tightening?

how many clicks is everyone running with their cars broken in now?

mine is at 2 clicks front and back.

Rick D. did you adjust your belt tension since you did the every other tooth clipping? curious to see if it'll affect tension.

a friend at the track yesterday clipped the belts too much, and had the rear clicked 3 times, and his belt snapped.

I've been running my rear at 3 clicks. Yesterday was the first time I ran the belts clipped. No problems. I was actually thinking of goin to 4 clicks in the rear and 3 for the front. I'll let ya know if it snaps.

you should try to get Kawada diff outdrives. They're a perfect fit on Tamiya diff gears and plates. If you can make 10mm diameter spacers to prevent the play (as they're made for a car that's only 15mm wide on the bulkheads) they'll be perfect.

wow 4 clicks? i think ill move mine to 3 clicks each with the clipped belts. since i have an extra set of belts.. i wont mind if it snaps.

someone explained this earlier..

but a looser belt has different characteristics over a tighter belt right? i think a tighter belt has more rip out of a corner? am i right? i dont remember what the earlier post stated.

I have one car with std belts and one with clipped belts, so far unclipped one is one click tighter front and rear and clipped one is two clicks tighter front and rear. Got loads of spare belts anyway so if they let go i will just learn from my lessons and fit std belts back on it.

Ordered 2 of the new frotn A blocks today to hopefully cure the driveshaft issue i had. Rick

Yeah, a tighter belt will accelerate faster. One that is looser will have more "slack" to pull out of the belt before it graps or reacts on the pulleys. A belt with less tension has more top end.

I too have spare belts. I'd just hate to have one snap while racing haha. But I see no use in switching to a new belt until this one does snap. I could leave mine with 3 clicks rear and 2 front. But I'm looking for more snap out the turns. Those TC3's are pretty quick! So I'm gonna try out 4 clicks rear and 3 front. I think my belt is still breaking in.

Sorry to ask a "stupid" question - what does "clipping" the belts do - and what is it exactly?

I have a 414 MII - will clipping the belt help?

Tamiyadriver, I have an Idea on how to lock up the center shaft, but I have to wait till Tamiya USA gets in the spare parts. I'm pretty sure I can do it with all Tamiya parts.
As for the front diff. I know that Martin Crisp found a way to make it from HPI parts. I looked at an old Kawada SV10, but no go there.

is the wheelbase so wide in the front that the drive cups for the one way are popping out? i put those pink sponge thingymabobs from the shocks in the drivecups to help make the fit a little bit more snug. try that see if it works for you. Or i could be completely WRONG about what your mentioning
