The T2R PRO may lack some standards that the T2R came with such as spring steel cvds and turnbuckles but hopefully thats reflected in the price
I hope the economy is not reflect in the price.

Rumor has it, it will retail in the neighborhood of $290.

I spoke with Ralph Burch at RC America yesterday and he said they will get XRAY T2R PRO kits in early January and it will retail for $300 in the US. I think this shows XRAY is first class. They are in the middle of releasing the T2'009 and are offering a much cheaper alternative (T2R PRO) only a couple weeks after the T2'009 is in LHS. They could have drained the market first and released this a few months later. Very responsible on their part given the economy.

$300 for that is WAAAYYYY over priced for that car. Add a set of turnbuckles and good CVD's especially at the xray price and your looking in the $400 range. I would rather go pick up the Cyclone TC or TC5R for that price and have a much more complete package. Or even a used T2008 which is essentially the same exact thing as the 009

I am sure people will buy it but without pricing it in the range of the TA05R and CycloneS then i dont see the point.

No way I'd paid $300 for that. At that price point you're better off buying a high end used car.

If you're OK with buying used RC cars, when is there ever a case when you would choose a new car over a used one because of price? Used cars nearly always trump when price is your primary decision factor.

There are plenty of time that's the case. The problem is the Pro is too close or more in price to used higher end.

If lets say the new Pro was about $200 and came with turnbuckles. Now used 008 are about the same price, then I would most likely buy new- I prefer new.

But when the lower end car is costing $50-100 more than used and requires more money before I open the box, then Xray has pushed me into the used market.

This is a very good idea on Xrays part. Instead of making some go out and buy a 500 dollar chassis, motor, ESC, servo, transmitter and receiver (which costs about $1100) just to be competitive, now they are shaving $200 dollars off of that so you can go and win some races with an inexpensive car. So all you people getting mad because this is supposably "over priced" think about how much the 008's cost last year or how much a TRF 416 is. Its also smart because in case you haven't noticed, the economy isnt that great right now, and i don't think that people who race who are also on a tight budget are going to spend $1100 dollars, they would rather buy a TA-05 or something, which is taking buisness away from Xray, so releasing a inexpensive car is a smart move.

$300... Sign of a bad economy. XRAY jacks the price up because they have massive overhead.

This thing has aluminum bulkheads, CVDs, aluminum layshaft/spur gear mount, and as far as I can tell it has turnbuckles, just without the square wrench area. It has all the race essential parts - there's no reason this kit wouldn't go the same speed as the 008/009. Plus, the Xrays are well known for their durability.

Seems like a pretty good value to me!

That's called a screw, not a turnbuckle. Turnbuckles have threads that go the opposite way at each end.

It does look like a good car though.

Except when you have to spend just as much or more to get the car back up to par.

I should have been more specific. Looking closely at them, it appears that they have smooth spots off center. The only reason to do that, I assume, is to have opposite threads on one side.
