Does anybody run a MI2/MI2EC with a 48 pitch spur gear? Schumacher sales a 72 tooth but I would like one around 70 tooth,48 pitch? Does anybody know of another brand, such as speedtech's, that will work with the Schumacher MI2/MI2EC?
Thanks

Why not switch to 64 p. I run a 100 spur with 41 pinion right now, works pretty good in my mi2. Running standard asphalt setup with 0 toe in rear. I want to get a oneway to run this summer outdoors.

I was told that you have more forgiveness in the mesh alignment, plus I have allot of 48 pitch pinion's in the upper 20 and 30 range. I will try a 70 or 72tooth/48 pitch with a 31 first since I already have that size from off-road. So the 100 tooth/64 pitch spur with the 41 pinion did you have to do any grinding for the motor mount screw slots or did it fit correctly the first time. In otherwords, did you have to do any modifying to get your gearing combination to fit
Thanks again

Hey Doug, I didn't have to do any mods at all. Actually a 43 pinion should give you a 4.4 final, we had to change cause we were goin to fast.

I couldn't keep up with the TC3s this last weekend. I guess I needed one more smack with the silly stick. It will officially be my primary car after a guts swap tonight. I'm even going to swap the kids car into one I thought I might sell.

I got a tc4 but I've not heard of any issues like that... what shock tower mounts/holes you using? I'm typically using the outside holes on all my AE cars. I did glance at a post recently talking about cut springs...cutting a wrap or two off... maybe that's an option? Can you try different shock ends?..are they threaded all the way? You could also try shorter shafts? I know the tc5 shafts are shorter than the tc3/4s.

The TC4 uses a different shock end than the TC3 -- I think it's a tad shorter. I ordered some of the TC4 balls that thread into the suspension arm and some of the TC4 shock ends to see if that will drop it a tick. I like the TC4 shock ends a lot better anyway -- you don't have to remove the bolt to remove the shock like you have to on the TC3.

Thx.

I think you'll like it John -- although I thought your car looked pretty good . I'm going to try to have my TC4 ready to go to compare it with on Sunday -- Cameron's is darn quick and that thing doesn't even have a one way in it.

I turtled it twice, then broke a body mount in the main and was dragging the body, so I benched it. It seems no matter how dialed in and perfect a line I put down I get driven away from. I try and add more pinion gear and I overheat, I take it away and I get much slower. Right now If I drove a perfect unmarshalled race, Rich and Camron and you would still thump me. Its not the fact that I'm losing, but the fact that I really have no chance to win unless everyone takes each other out. I think I cursed myself by selling the purple camaro.

just ran a search on this thread for 'lipo' and didn't find any info on what mah is needed?

I'm looking to setup a tc3/tc4 with a 21.5BL and lipo combo, what minimum mah and current capability am I looking for when purchasing a single lipo to use in this car?

I'm looking to only have 1 battery unless I can get away with a much cheaper lower mah pack, then I'd use 1 for the longer main and the other for the heats.

TIA!

Hey there...for the 21.5/lipo - you can run any 2s lipo pack up to and including 5000mah just gotta keep the 4.2 FDR and you're in business

check out here if you need more info - http://www.apexspeed.com/usvintagetr...les/index.html

thanks for that, but what I mean is for example, how many amps will a 4.2 FDR 21.5 BL draw at burst, and continuous, and what capacity will get me through a race day of 2 or 3 heats and a main, charging between heats Can I get away with a 2800? The 5000's weigh a lot more than the lower capacity setups, but I don't want to go too low if a 21.5 @ 4.2 FDR will draw 90amps (for example)

gotcha - unfortunately, can't help you there Still running 17.5/4cell

I'm sure people are getting away with the lower packs..I know if I change over to 21.5 I'll only be running a Tekin 3400 pack

I'm running SMC 3200 and IP 3800 LiPo packs with the Novak 21.5. The lowest the voltage has ever come out of the car is around 7.8 volts.

Some are using the 2400 Orion sport pack lipos. You won't have any problems with a lower capacity lipo and a 21.5. Someone checked the amp draw on his one night at our track with a telemetry system and I don't remember the exact draw but it was plenty low that a 2400 would handle it fine. So any of the ROAR approved lipos will work fine. Whatever capacity you choose.
