Just got to play with my F103 for a couple of runs between rounds today. It is just a blast with a 21.5 and foams on carpet. Easily the most stupid fast car fun car to drive I own.

RC F1 cars are generally slower than say 1/12th scale or Touring Cars, why is this?

Mechanical Grip? Down Force Levels? Lack of setup experience? Running Silver Cans rather than say 10.5T?

Lack of setup experience and rules are the main thing, most classes of F1 run a slower motor. 10.5 and good set up gives same results.

In my opinion 12th scale will always be faster due to downforce and dimensions.
A 10.5 F1 even with the advantage of having 2s is not going to compete with a modified 12th scale.

However, with enough grip, I have run similar laptimes to Sedan mod, while running only 21.5 boosted with a proper Foam tire F-103

For Road Course electric racing, the lap times should be this...
235 Pan car>12th scale>F-103 Foam>WGT>Sedan>Minis

Last edited by RedBullFiXX; 11-06-2011 at 07:02 AM. Reason: added WGT, how could I forget that.

I've run my F103 Foam with a 2S/21.5 against 1S/13.5 WGT Cars and been comparable in laps.

Sounds about right.
WGT is much slower than 12th scale though

Even if they run it 2S with 17.5?
Is that also slow?

How much of a difference would ground effect make to f1? Like lotus 79 style!
Since there's no rule against it! Eg, diffusers are allowed etc.
