Hey Scirroco14, I picked up this, box stock F104w over the weekend, it will be my sons, for all of 10 minutes until he wants go watch videos on the iPad. Then it will be a shelf queen, its in great condition not a scratch on it. Only thing I changed was painting a Jean Alesi helmet since it all the Alesi decals, then put the missing Marlboro Decals on my number 27. It has servo and a silver can and I bought an old Novak Duster esc for it. But I wonder if I can use a lipo battery or should get some round celled Nimh packs? And still need to finish the blue top on helmet.

I didnt paint it myself so i asked the painter. But he didnt know for sure anymore. He thinks it might be Parma fasescent teal or faspearl green. The teal looks to blue to me so i guess the faspearl green looks the closest.

faspearl green:

I need some help. I have a guy on my FB page that sent me a video of an old F102 with the Lotus Camel livery. OK here's the deal he has a 1:1 scale (that sounds stupid), he has a REAL Lotus 101 in Camel livery. And if that wasn't cool enough as it is he wants to build/buy an RC replica of it. Problem is I have heard that Tamiya never made a lotus 101 and the 102 bodies lines are too far off. Any suggestions for a Lotus 101? Talked to BP Shadow and he doesn't recall ever seeing one?

You should start looking at Japanese sites. They have a much better selection of wide (F103 type) bodies, since they still race them.

Chevron body...

I have a shelf queen 107B, the nose is more rounded than the 101 but seems it wouldn't take much to flatten the 107s nose...
Body is not painted but the Castrol livery decals are on it, but they come up pretty easy, I pulled them last night to line them up a little better than the original owner did. Lmk

If they don't want to race it, an option could be to scan it, turn it in to a mesh model of the body and 3D print it. There are options out there, including Autodesk Remake that can construct a 3D mesh from a series of photos.

It's what I'd call a non-trivial amount of work, but lots of fun...
