Thanks. Yeah, well, it only fits with my very small spur, I might design something universal later and you will all have to buy it from me for lots of cash. I am building my own 3d printer, once done I have better means to make stuff. The office printer underextrudes and is not well programmed. And I will hopefully quit this job soon...

Cheers,

Hi there,

can you please give me advice for new tires?

I'll be running on unprepped asphalt low grip track (air temp from less than 20 to 30), and I don't know what to choose:

- new Ride GR (front and rear)
- Shimizu 571/572
- Shimizu 571/575
- Shimizu 573/572
- Shimizu 573/575

Thanks a lot for your help!

Regards,
G-rem

From my experience, 571/572 would work on low to mid grip asphalt. If you feel the front have too much bite, then switch it up to 573 fronts. I do have 575 rears but I never need to use it as the 572 rears are soft enough for 10c weather.

I just tested the new Ride GR tires today and they felt pretty good. Temperature was around 28c and have decent grip. But as night fell and temperature started to drop, so did their performance. I swapped them out for the pits 573/572 and felt so much more confident on the track.

I would definitely get 571, 572, 573, 575 as your primary set of tires. And maybe the Ride for extra hot days. Ive used their previous tire sets before and they work pretty well in HOT weather, Im talking about 34c outdoor air temp, sun blazing, track temps is around 50-60c

Which glues are recommended for putting together a multi piece body like the Speed passions kit? I don't want to use the double sided tape but also don't want the glue to effect the paint.

TRG117 build update: rear end is done with the Fenix gear dif sans the motor and speedo. Rear diffuser + ERS were also mounted.

Have a great happy, racing weekend, folks.

Side note: Sochi race looks spectacular!

Cheers!

Looks wonderful José, very very nice piece of car!

Are you using F103 rubber tires and so get 200mm wide?

Cheers,
G-rem

Yes; mounted the TRG F103 wheels here but for the race, we are required to use F104 specs.

Nice! Can you please tell me the width of the front and the rear F103 tires? And their outer diameter, please?

Another thing I forgot to mention, Buying pre-mounted tires like the Ride is a hit or miss with wheel balancing. The Rear wheels of the GR set I bought are a little unbalanced out of the box and vibrates a bit when full throttle. Its not as bad as others Ive seen but slightly annoying. Its pretty hard to balance F1 tires especially the rear wheels since there are no fixture for it.

Pits you mount and glue yourself so you can control the balancing and make sure everything is nice and perfect.

Depending on your car's setup and/or race requirement, you can either use Exotek's 3mm offset wheels or Tamiya's foam wheels to mount the pits. With my experience, my cars are more stable with the 3mm offset Exotek wheels. They are very twitchy with the normal Tamiya foams. Once I added spacers to space out the tire width the car felt the same as running the Exotek wheels.

Nice to know! I was considering buying pre-monted Pit tires, those sold by Schumacher and monted on Tuning Haus rims...

I have to agree, pit shimizu compounds on exotek rims are much better than pre glued Pits or foam mounted pits.. if you use a Tamiya foam insert with the pit compounds you get a very stable smooth driving car.. this is from experience on out door asphalt only.. I race in low temps and the 575 pits are the go to compound for me.. once the temp rises Ride R1s work well and I prefer over the medium pit compound.. I have noticed that both Pit rears and ride R1s rears become optimal after about 10 laps.. that is the heat generates more rear grip..
