Pricing is a bit steep (although people will come back with this being a full option car - without wings, tires, and body)?

What will dealers being charging?

Anyone have some insight?

Thanks

G-man
That's about $200.00 more than I want to spend at that price.

Concerning the paint scheme rules in the VF1 class... its about keeping the cars looking and feeling like the cars from that era... It's not necessary to duplicate a specific car, although that is fantastic... some people can not resist painting up flames and slapping on the latest RC decal they received at the last raffle...

Yes, the paint schemes for the VF1 cars should at least be true to the 60's era F1 cars, as you say, they don't have to be painted like any particular car, just something that would fit with that era. As for me personally, as soon as Shadow comes out with the 1967 Jim Clark Lotus 49 decal set, I will definitely be buying it as I'm a lifelong Lotus and Clark fan; and the Lotus 49 is one of my alltime favorites! ABC Hobby USA has side mirrors that duplicate the 60's cars; and I'm getting those as well.

I'm so glad that the rules for VF1 do not allow wild paint schemes, flames, skulls, neon paint, etc. About time that someone is trying to put the "scale" back into a class of racing! Of course, the VTA series has been doing that right along with great success. Another favorite of mine.

+1

When an F1 starts encroaching on tourer level as far as pricing, regardless of the quality, its getting far too expensive

I would imagine it will end up in the high 200s. It is a nice piece though.

I was thinking it was MSRP, kind of like the same for Tamiya when they list $300-$400 on their website.

Hopefully low-mid $200s as still need to get wheels, body, wings

Default Update

OK, Here's the latest I can figure out. With the F104 front end I cannot find a way to get the sidth to 190mm using the VTA wheels and tires. 180mm is the best I can do with "stock" parts. I'm sure it could be done but probably not worth it considering the F103, F109, and probably the front end from RCMART will all work out fairly easily and look better too.

The F103 and 109 front ends are the same width at the king pins so should be interchangeable. If the RCMART part is a little narrower it should still work well.

Pics show different views and details of what I have so far. I moved everything over to the F104 Chassis plate to be sure it came out the same as the F103 I was using. The F104 is easier to use since that's the one Manny used.

More later, I think painting the body is next!!!

Yeah, they may work. There may be an issue trying to get the correct width of 190mm. Here's my previous post on them:

I did stumble on info on the F103GT parts you found and the steering knuckle/hub fooled me! It looked like a rear type hub but turn it 90 degrees and I can see how it fits. It has alot of trailing caster and my not be wide enough for what we are doing. There is a plastic version from Tamiya on the "T" plastic tree that woudl be cheaper to try. I saw it on speedtech. Next time I order from them I'll get a set to check out.

Parts are available, but some times on backorder. I'm very happy with the FGX set-up, of course I have plenty of the parts already!

Looks great Ned, thanks for the pictures! Keep them coming. Looking froward to seeing that body painted and mounted. Also, can't wait to see those TECH Racing front arms on that car!
