What is the best chassis material for a DD (direct drive) F1 on asphalt? FRP or Carbon fiber?
I am switching from a FGX IRS to a DD car this season and want to know what people have been running on slightly bumpy asphalt.
Also are people running different combo's like Carbon main chassis with FRP rear pod and upper deck or other combo's?
Just dont want to waste the money on a new carbon chassis if it is not needed.

I now race the F104 V2. For my driving styles it's the best out there. unfortunately its also pricy. By the time you do basic Hop-ups your in the $320 range (no electronics or body set).
Hope this helps,

Ok so i've been looking around for a few weeks now, but the more i read, the more uncertain i get...
Should i buy Novak, tekin, castle or Reventon ??
They all seem to be about the same size, have the same functions and priced very similar...
Reading the forums i feel i read more negative than possitive on all the products.
So what should i choose and why?
As of now I'm leaning against the Reventon R, it looks the part a d the software solution seems clever.

Edge:
simple
cost effective
cost effective
Tekin:
"technically" better
a little smaller
more flexible settings, but requires USB hotwire for more advanced settings or setting back to blinky mode

Everyone has their favourites and everyone will avoid anything to do with electrics they had a problem with some time in the past. You won't find any F1s using Castle and no one at my club will use Novak having seen too many of then go bang in the past.
Personal favourite is the Hobbywing Xtreme Stock, although it's not on your list. Of the four you have listed I would only choose the Tekin or Reventon, if you can stretch to the price then go for the Tekin, if your budget isn't that great go for the Reventon.

After much reading i decided on the Hobbywing Xtreme stock.
I`ll post some pictures and my impressions when i get it.

You can always upload a blinky software on the Xtreme stock esc.
And you can always upload new boosted software if you want it.
Personally the Xtreme stock would be my choice, it's also a 60A instead of a 45A for the justock.

I picked up a Just Stock for a VTA car. Our local club is not really running VTA at the moment. Was thinking of putting this ESC into my F1 to see how this ESC feels. How smooth is this ESC say compared to a LRP SXXv2 or a LRP Flow works? I know there is a major price difference, but looking for throttle feel. I have yet to put power through mine.

I have all 3 (well i have the nosram version, comet hd that is red version of the flow) .
Currently I have the Justock in my F104X1 and the esc is ok,good enough to do the job (we run 21.5t blinky). Feels almost as good as the lrp esc´s.
But using faster motors the differences multiply, I tried justock on 10.5t on awesomatix (my pro stock tc) , and it is still ok but sxx stock spec 2 and Nosram comet hd do feel alot better. -comet is the best of the 3 but sxx is really close.
Brake feel is also a bit worse on justock then the lrp but not too bad. -good enough to use on rwd also .
My radio is M11x, maybe if you are using lower end tx´s the differences are not that noticeable but I do notice the difference on these esc´s .
That said... My favorite esc for f1 is still the justock.
Small and works well.

But from more and more pilots i do feel the need they want to go to blinky.
This sunday i will be competing at a race where they use blinky for F1 but with a 17.5T motor.
Very excited about it cause i will be competing against FGX, i have high hopes for my F104X1

Here in europe we still have a lot of boosted classes, only at national races they use the blinky modes except modified.
But from more and more pilots i do feel the need they want to go to blinky.
