Maybe if you had to think about a seven or ten minute final like the 1/12th guys it would stop the cars getting stupid quick. Maybe this is the way forward?
Running longer races will never happen in TC, as there will then be not enough time to have 120 TC racers a meeting, if running 3 to 4 rounds, and finals, thats why there are only 80, racers in 1/12 meetings. coz of the 8 mins they run.

There are some different types here...

This one is more for the TC5/belt drive flat chassis cars...
http://www.ppdbillet.com/RC_accessories.html

There is also a guy here on RC tech (JohnyBoy) that does weights similar to the LiPo-Lead, but they are made from stainless steel...

My lipo's weigh 9.4 oz or 268gr . To get them to weigh the same as my 3800's i have to add 5.7oz according to my scale . which weight kit is better ?.

We ran a spec tyre, the sorex 24... Not that far off a 20. I ran one set of tyres for 4 of the 6 winter series rounds (3 or 4 qualifiers and a 2 leg final) the 2nd set of tyres got used for just 2 runs, I could have done without them tbh, but they just had the edge I were looking for when it all mattered, in the last round. I finished 3rd, part of that was probably being my cells being 2 or 3 seasons old, another reason being unreliability in one round, and a no show in another.

I found that a well setup car with the extra weight gave stability, its not all doom and gloom having that extra weight, and taught me how to hold a defensive line in the infield.

I used one brand new demon green motor (monster based) for all of the series and it still has plenty of go in it now, many meetings after the winter series above.

A well set up car seems to be the best for anyone, light weight or not.

If you drive great with a heavier car that's set up to how you like it, then that's all that matters, really.

Part of the reason why like the light weight because it allows me more flexibility, especially when it comes to running on bumpier asphalt lots.

Hi Sabin,

at last someone makes a valid point as when weight is an advantage. I do agree with you here as it is much easier to set up a heavy car on bumby surface.

I would at least like to see OPEN MOD go to a dimensinal class with a min/max limits for size, weight, motors, batteries.

Would be something to see if a racer wanted to run a 380BL with a mirco servo and 3000mah 11.1V LiPO. 1100grams and every bit of fast.

How is equal competition not a valid reason?

Thanks. Personally, I have no problem running my lightweight car on a bumpy surface. I have some insanely soft springs, and I run 20wt all around and the car just floats over the surface. Chassis roll is pretty much a non-issue, so I can carve corners nicely and I can drop the ride height down a little more for added stability.

There was this dip on the smackdown track that was so big, almost every car was having trouble with it every time they went over it they bounced off it like a ball or the rear end came loose. not me. I went full throttle through it with no drama.
