Well here in S. Ontario at fastcats.ca F1 is now the biggest points series class!!
Why? because drivers race drivers, not cars. We use a 2400spec lipo or Nimh pack.. on the foams on an indoor carpet.

On a wednesday night we have over 20 f1 drivers.. on a Sunday it can get up to 30 on a good turnout and a LOT of these people not driving every other class as well.. some are.. but some are just out for f1.

I will be running f1, mini, and Tc stock rubber this year.. because I am just out to have fun and race.. 1/12 is pretty much dead (F1 replaced it) and TC is now split between the money foam guys.. and the fun rubber guys.

Wow, if you go back through the Tamiya catalogue you see some great bodies.

Why does this company not produce body sets once the car it was made for is discontinued?? Weird.

Will the 201 bodies fit a 103 no problem?

I would love to get the old RC Ferrari 312T3 body set. Being Canadian you have to hang your hat on Gilles Villeneuve

ducatigary:

that's one beautiful hop upped ride

if you don't mind me asking, would you give me an estimate of the total cost of the hop ups you bought for your kit?

also, are all those tamiya hop ups? or are some 3racing and/or other brands?

thanks in advance

Bikerbob, I just bought the 312T3 F103RS complete kit, and built it to Tamiya specs, it will remain a shelf queen. You can still get the body from Tamiya
USA, but you have to buy the body shell, decals, windshield, driver figure, and parts tree for the rollbars, mirrors ect. Or you can still find the complete body kit on ebay, but I've seen them as much as $150 If you really want old school how about a Tyrrell P34, I found Advance hobbies in Canada has them. Yep, I ordered that right away, and she is getting alot of F103 hop-ups because I do want to run it. It will certainly turn heads having 4 front wheels!

Thanks for the link,

So you think they can be bought retail? I will try that. $75 for a body set is a bit much when I want it as a runner.

Yeah Advance can have some wide range of stuff.. But they too have no RMs right now!

actually, i've just made my mind up, ill run down to the local hobby shop on monday and pay them to solder it together

next job, paint the body

ohh and you have to make your own 3mm spacer to get the titanium main shaft to fit, i probbably wouldnt bother with that either !

maybe its a marketing thing... i do know that Tamiya holds its annual trade show in Shizuoka Japan to coincide with the Tamiya World Championships...

they sell only on that trade show kits and items that normally would not be sold otherwise because officially it is discontinued by Tamiya.

F-201 bodies CAN be mounted to a F-103 Chassis. the trick is to modify the rear portion of the body to accomodate the rear pod and the slightly shortened wheelbase. similar to what i did to the Rahal Hogan Lola body for the F-103L which i made it fit to my 103RX.

It's the Chevron 2008 F1-08 Body set. It's not something you can just spray and play. You need some good body scissors and a sharpe eye, because there are multi peices on a single lexan mold. Some of the parts are reversed, so you need to cut them out, peel off the masking, and re-mask the other side. The instructions are in japanese or chinese, so you only have pictures to make since of it. Other than that, it's a beautiful bady.
