The "A" mounts on the tb03 are too narrow to use with the short arms. anyone here play with this mod? thanks.
Hi
The arm comes with tb03 box is just the short arm that you talked about. It just a plastic one not the carbon mixed which you bought. I did my 03 to use D/D in the front and some times to use C/C to have aggrecive driving. The A is exactly too narrow. The back I aways use XA/E. When feel too lose in the corner, try XA/D or XB/D to get the same rear tole-in. Just a reference for you.

can the wheelbase of the tb03 be shortened by reversing the rear suspension arms? from the standard 257 to the shorter 251 similar to the tt01 and ta05?

basing from pictures and hop up rear suspension arms, they're reversible but does not make the wheelbase shorter, correct?

Ive just ordered the TB03R (& a few spares)

I want to run a EZRun 9T in it. Anything I need to do to cope with a 9T motor?? I bought the ali dif upgrade (for the rear)

Also thinking about removing the IFS & use 'normal' front suspension tower. Are the parts to do that included with it ?

Cheers

..too many broken belts/pullies on the Xray. Moving to shaftie

Hello everyone, thanks for a great thread. I have read through most of it but I still have some information I need

First of all, some background. I recently came back to the hobby after a 15 year break. Back then I was ~15 years and ran a cheap Thunder Tiger nitro Celica.
About 2 years back I purchased a HPI E10 Drift to get back into the hobby again. Shortly after that I had 2 Tamiya TT-01 and one Tamiya DF-03Ra too.

Now I'm thinking about starting to run a little more serious car and after reading this thread I'm certain that the TB03R is the correct choice for me. I will be able to bash on parking lots, but also run tracks if I want to.

I will probably run a bl setup, so I have done some research on what I might need. (sorry for no links but not allowed to post them according to forum)

Steering upgrade, product-id=54097
Alu Motor Adapter, product-id=54054
Alu Diff Joint(rear), product-id=54056
Spool (front), product-id=54125
Alu Spur Mount, product-id=54094

None of these seems to be included in the TB03R set, so I thought they will be nice to have also. Can anyone please confirm and also tell me if some of these upgrades are unnecessary.

Thanks again for a super good thread!

/Tobias

@ nbla / Tobias:

Concratulations! - TB03R is the best choice! I'd like to continue your list with
-Titanium Hex Screw Set Tamyia #49499 or the cheaper one from 3racing (the original Philips screw are crap!)
- TB03 reinforced Lower Deck #54147 (provides much better feeling - even better than the Carbon one from 3Racing)
- Onroad Spring set White #49382 (or those from Hot Bodies /HPI)
-Don't forget to buy tires - the kit has none included

@Shqizy

Thanks for the reply

I will look in to the parts you suggested too, thanks. I was thinking about running with my 26mm X-Patterns to start with, will that work or do I need 24mm?

@Shqizy

Thanks for your list, I will check it out later

I was planning on running my 26mm HPI X-Pattern, is that possible or do I have to use 24mm wheels?

yes, correct, to make the wheelbase shorter you can play with the spacers on the hingepins to make the arm further back or front.

Hey good thinking, I'll order some now. Hopefully all my parts will arrive same week as the car kit

Hey nbla,
There is a workaround if you want to try & save money only the steering kit, post 603 (thanks fat500). I'm going to try it
http://www.rctech.net/forum/6170555-post603.html

otherwise its 2 steering parts needed (another $42 right there).
tamiya 54095
tamiya 54097
All these 'extras' really bump up total cost !!

i see, so the TB03 is similar to TA05 then in terms of that regard.

do you know how much further back of front i could adjust them?

Thanks for the tip, I'll probably end up getting those two Fast question tho, on the Carbon Steering Link there is no mention about the Steering Set, but the Steering Set says it "can be used with 54097". Do I really need both of those from the start?

Thanks again

no you don't need both -
54097 get's you rid of most slackness
in addition you can either buy 54095 or simply replace the four bush bearings by four 850 ball bearings (there is no difference to 54095 if you have reinforced K-Parts) which is much lighter
