Any advice for someone looking to buy a 414 like listing which is the more desireable version down to the basic verion and what to look for when buying one.

All advice is welcome , my collection of tamiya's is going to start getting bigger.

Check that the hinge pins are all straight. All versions are good from the original to the WCR. There are very few differences between the M and M2, only the colour of alloy parts and the lenght of the screws.

As far as I know there is no difference between the M & M2.

If you buy it used it would be helpful to have extra parts.

One part I wish I had but don't yet are the adjustable toe blocks, so you are not just stuck with 2 Deg or 0 Deg.

I actually enjoy the M2 over the Evo3. Although between the two they both seem to fight each other for best lap times at the track.

Yeah with the 415 which is going to be expensive as hell i was thinking of selling my tc3 and getting a 414 or should i not? Will it still be competitive or what is wrong with the car that they decided to make another one? I dont want to buy it and then 6 months later it be a waste.

I don't think there is really anything wrong with the 414m or m2. This car is good and comes down a long line of prototypes. It started as a limited production car then a mass produced one and many versions later they pretty much reached the end of the line as far as what to do with the chassis.

I think part of the problem Japan has a short attention span and needs to come out with a new kit or two every year. Its amazing how many versions of one chassis they can release. All in various stages of hopup modifications based on one chassis. You would think they would release the budget version before the hopped up verson?

Anyway they are in business to sell kits and keep people buying their products. On my Evo3 stickersheet it does goto Evo7. I have no plans of getting rid of my M2, I think my Evo would give me 2nd thoughts before the M2 would. If you get one make sure you buy spare arms, uprights and hinge pins. Usually track hobbyshops don't stock spares.
